There was nothing quite like the circus. The cacophony of rides and machines, shrieks and laughter, it was a kind of music all its own. And the smell! Like a thick cloud of sugar in the air around them. Strangely, she got weirder looks as a clown in a circus than she did walking the streets of Gotham, but that was to be expected-- given that it was weirder to see a clown who WASN’T with the production. The Joker ignored everyone who wasn’t the person she was there to see, they were all background noise anyway. The target was all that mattered; just like one of the many carnival games she passed, you had to keep your eyes on the prize.
She found Grayson in what looked like a staging area of sorts, all kinds of odds and ends stacked together and a place to change and double check your make-up before heading out to the big top. An oversized rubber chicken sat on the crate to her left, and she considered that this might not be the best place to do business, if there were witnesses coming and going. Maybe she could convince him to go somewhere else. But first, she had to see how he’d react to her presence. The last Robin she’d dealt with hadn’t fared so well, and it was possible this one might resent that. Still, Joker stepped into the field of his vision, her reflection clear in the mirrors.
