            his  hand  was  BROKEN,  so  repeatedly  smacking  the  punching  back  with  the  battered  cast  probably  wasn’t  the  best  idea.  archie  was  UPSET;  confused,  angry,  sad.  a  cascade  of  emotions  poured  into  the  red  head  with  every  hit  to  the  hanging  sack.  the  more  his  knuckles  ached,  his  heart  did  less. 

 it  all  happened  so  fast,  he  stepped  away  for  TWO  MINUTES  to  wash  his  hand.  chaos  unraveled  once  he  returned  to  the  dining  area,  the  man  with  the  GUN.  archie  stared  into  his  eyes,  fear  striking  a  nerve.  HOW  could  things  turned  south  so  quickly  ??

                     --  the  gunshot  still  rang  through  his  mind.

 but  now  there  was  nothing  left  for  him  to  do  but  WAIT.  sit  in  agony  while  the  doctors  try  to  do  everything  they  can.  to  save  him.  fred  shouldn’t  be  there,  the  shooter  was  CLEARLY  aiming  for  archie.  wasn’t  he  ??  he  should  have  protected  him. 

                “  betty,  what  are  you  doing  here  ??  “

He’d been there since he’d gotten the phone call, rushed right over without another word to Pop, his hamburger half chewed and deserted on his plate. He’d sat in the waiting room with everyone else and when the redhead had appeared from his room, seemingly in one piece, Jughead had thought it was over.

But he was wrong.

He heard the sounds of crash cart being wheeled down the hallway, the clattering of feet in one of the rooms, the yelling of medical jargon that he only half understood. And then there was quiet.

Soft snores come from a mouth agape, the boy sprawled out in the chair near Betty’s bed. He has a leg draped over one arm, his head cocked crookedly to the side in what looks like the most uncomfortable of positions. But Jughead Jones is no stranger to finding sleep where there ought to be none.

It’s the departure of a nurse and the shutting of the door that brings Jughead to consciousness. He blinks at the clock trying to gauge how long he’s been there, when Archie is supposed to return. And then his eyes scamper over to the blonde in the hospital gown, staring back at him.

“You’re awake?”

He isn’t expecting to see her there on the front step of his fosters’ house. 

His eyes had been on the ground, headphones over his ears as he’d sauntered across the front yard, but as soon as his eyes had lifted enough to see the out of place blonde ponytail, he had known he was in for it.

Jughead swallows tightly, hands gripping the straps of his back pack a little tighter as he comes to a halt below her. “Hey,” he says as lightly as possible, his eyes unsure as he looks up through his lashes to her. The faded cut on his cheek to match the remnants of the bruises on his knuckles don’t bode well for this surprise; it’s been the very reason he’s supplied lame excuses to her for the past few days. He takes the stairs slowly up to her.

He ought to have known Betty would be more insistent than that.

“Just in the neighbourhood?” he tries, mustering a half smile.

Stater for Betty || @niightmaresmurfette​ 

Just finishing up a meeting with one of her clients, Penny waved the off as they stormed out of the room. Shaking her head, she sighed sharply. "Fuckin' serpents." She mumbled under her breath. Penny was indeed the lawyer that the Serpents went to due to her ability to persuade just about anyone into doing what she wanted or believing her words but sometimes, the Serpents drove her nuts. 

"Penny, you have someone here to see you" Judy, Penny's assistant echoed into her speaker of Penny's office. A small sigh as she leaned back in her office chair, clicking the button on the phone. "If it's the Jones kid again, tell him our meeting is still next week. I don't see anyone before their scheduled time" She replied, reaching over and grabbing a cigarette from the drawer of her desk. Just as she was lighting it, eyes darted towards the door that swung open, a petite blonde staring at her. "Uhm" Penny took the cigarette out of her mouth, immediately to her feet. "You can't just barge into my office, sweetie" Tone a bit harsh. 

"I'm sorry, Penny! I tried" Judy whined as Penny shook her head, sighing. "Obviously, this is important for this young lady to barg into my office, so don't worry about it. Shut the door, please." She motioned towards Judy who reluctantly shut the door, doing as she was told. The blonde raised a brow towards the girl, sitting back down and putting the cigarette in her mouth. "You are obviously not from around here, sweetie. So, what can I do you for?" With that, she lit her cigarette, waiting for the girl to decide to make herself known on why she was there.
