Globeflower is the most imposing member of the buttercup family, and the name describes it well. It is also known as the midsummer flower in northern Finland, but here in the south it blooms a lot earlier than that - especially this year. Everything has been flowering really too early this summer, as we had the driest and hottest May in history. These globeflowers are growing in our garden, and even though they are fairly large and beautiful flowers you wouldn’t think you would find in the wild, they are found in all of Finland all the way up to Lapland, which is where it is the most numerous.
