Sunriseduo Bingo: Warmth from Winter's Ice

The second work I've written for the sunriseduo bingo, for the prompt Freedom.

Niki: Technoblade.

Niki/Techno is so good for BDSM in the most traditional way of the practice, because I do think they'd like it, but only in very specific, agreed upon scenes with a clear start and an end, and lots of aftercare.

Techno, who craves the opportunity to hand over control for a bit, to submit and not think of anything, who relishes in being told what to do during sex and have somebody else take the lead, and who feels comfortable handing over that control to the one who, even when they weren't allies, did always treat him like a person, who at least had that much respect for him.

And Niki, who craves to have control over things when her entire life feels like others are making choices for her, who had to deal too often with people taking advantage of her or seeing her as a weak link, being extended that trust, getting a kick out of it, from the one who ended up taking her seriously and giving her back community when she was in her deepest, darkest place.

They do their thing, get their gratification from it, and then they partake in copious amounts of aftercare, which they enjoy as much as the sex, really. Niki is probably prone to dom drop. But the way they take care of each other in the aftermath of the scene helps a lot.

Nikiblade Headcanons

I never expected to be making headcanons for Nikiblade, mostly because I never expected to be shipping Nikiblade. But I fell down the Nikiblade rabbit hole and now I have thoughts about this pairing.

Technoblade is not big on PDA, preferring to keep his affections private, but knows that Niki is quite fond of PDA in certain situations so he occasionally indulges her. His main form of physical affection in public is just tucking her under his chin, or pressing a kiss to her hand.

Niki on the other hand is perfectly fine with PDA, but holds back because she doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable. She occasionally indulges on quick presses of kisses on his cheek, or holding his hand, but doesn’t push too much further than that.

If Niki gets cold, Technoblade hugs her from behind to wrap his cloak around her. So basically, you just see their heads poking out of his cloak. The reason why Technoblade does this is because at first he'd just give Niki his cloak. But whenever he tried to reach for it back Niki, who gets cold easily, would just run away with it because it's really nice and cozy. After having to chase her down for his cloak a couple of times, this was his solution to the problem.

Technoblade is a little possessive of Niki, but he expresses it in ways that reaffirm her agency (e.g. if someone is flirting with her, he’d stand behind her intimidatingly and say “She’s not interested” instead of “She’s mine”).

Niki likes that Technoblade shows her respect and kindness. He doesn’t talk over her, and actively interrupts a conversation if someone else talks over her so that she can continue what she wanted to say. While Technoblade is brutal and powerful, Niki gets to see a softer side of him very few ever get to see. Niki likes that Technoblade is a loyal and passionate person, but is also extremely calm and chill in most situations.

Technoblade likes that Niki doesn’t just see him as The Blade. She doesn’t underestimate him, but the fact that she actively tries to protect and save him – even when he doesn’t need it. Though Niki’s kindness isn’t special, Niki is one of the few people that make Technoblade feel like a person. Technoblade likes that Niki is a kind, bubbly, generous person who has a viciously vindictive streak. He loves to see her angry, so long as she’s not angry at him.

In terms of what they find attractive about each other… Niki, I think is fond of the way Technoblade presents himself. He’s strong, and built like a warrior, but I think the long hair and more regal approach to his attire is something she likes. Technoblade I think is more attracted to personality, and like I said before, specifically the more vicious streak she can have.

As for dating, I see them preferring more private, intimate dates. Maybe things that most wouldn’t consider dates, but it works for them. They meditate together, go on long walks, read books silently while in the same room, bake things together.

They both suffer from nightmares, for different reasons, and they both comfort each other in different ways. Technoblade is distant after a nightmare, extremely tense. Touch is overwhelming, so usually Niki sings or plays music on an instrument softly until he’s present enough to pull her into a hug. He just holds her tightly. When Niki wakes up from a nightmare, she needs to be jolted out of her nightmare and then held.

They both love animals, so they both bond over their love of animals a lot. If they own a property together, it doesn’t matter what the property started as, it’s basically a zoo once they’re comfortably settled. They will own so many animals, and no one knows how they can take care of so many animals.

Technoblade’s main love language is gift giving. He tends to default to weapons when it comes to gifts, and with Niki he likes to flex his skills forging but crafting intricately designed weapons – functional and stylish. If Niki mentions she’s after something, Technoblade will probably just go get it for her. Though if its a difficult or long find, he might just agree to do it with her so they can spend time together. Niki will often bake things for Technoblade as a gift in return.

Niki’s main love language if quality time. Niki often feels cast aside and ignored by most people, so Technoblade going out of his way to spend time with her is always enough to put a smile on her face. It doesn’t matter too much to Niki what they do together, all that’s important to her is that they’re together and they’re bonding.

Technoblade and Niki often style each other’s hair, usually in braids but they’ll allow it if their partner has another idea in mind. Both of them are pretty good with hair, though that shouldn’t be surprising considering how much they have to take care of their own hair.

Technoblade is a cuddly sleeper. If Niki and Technoblade fall asleep in the same bed, she will wake up in his arms in the morning.

They’re not really a couple that has cute nicknames or petnames for each other.
