where → the hospital

​ He hates hospitals, he really does. They smell too heavily like lemon scented cleaner and isn’t a fan of seeing people laying in hospital beds. It all makes him feel so weird, so steril. He doesn’t want to be here, so he hopes whatever is happening to his kid is resolved quickly and efficently so that they can leave as soon as possible. 

“But daddy!” Mattie hears the cry from the child that is currently not on the exam table. Elodie is sick, and Eliza is...jealous? Jealous, from the attention her sister is getting. Mattie has hafl a mind to hand the four year some cash to go get candy from the vending machine but that seems unwise. But he never claimed to be the perfect parent. Instead, he reaches into the inside pocket of his suit jacket, and pulls the little bag of snacks he keeps there, a small ziplock of goldfish, and he passes it over to her, hoping it’ll keep the other tiny blonde child quiet for just a few moments. 

“So, what are we looking at?” he asks, because a sore throat and a terrible cough cannot be a good sign, especially for a four year old.
