That makes them stand out among the courtiers, because a lot of the others have some layer of politeness or self-image maintenance; Vulgora doesn’t. They’re direct, they escalate fast, and they’re the kind of character where you always believe they’d pick the most destructive option first." 2. "they’re one of the most entertainingly awful characters in the arcana. every time they show up it’s like okay great, here comes this smug, monstrous freak to make everything worse in the best possible way. they’ve got such a strong presence, and they feel genuinely memorable instead of just blending into the background as another antagonist. also for an lgbt character tournament, they deserve points for being allowed to be weird, unsettling, theatrical, and completely unapologetic about it. not every queer character has to be nice or safe or easy to root for in a conventional way. sometimes they should just be a freak with incredible screen presence."
