I don't understand how old is Nina supposed to be. At first I thought she was supposed to be older because she was Fez's boss and seemingly lived alone but then her parents said that "having a friend like Fez will look so good at your college application". Is she supposed to be his age or not?

Nina's age is a question that's vexed me a long time. She's the one who hires people at the DMV, not only someone who works at a DMV counter. The former is a higher-up position that an eighteen- or nineteen-year-old of any gender is unlikely to have. And a female teenager even more unlikely in the late 1970s.

T7S likely wants us to think she around nineteen or twenty at the oldest. But the facts point toward twenty-three, let's say, if she's worked at the DMV since she was eighteen. With five years of experience, she could feasibly have gotten the position of hiring people.

Episode 512.5 - “Valentine’s Day Preparations”

Comments: I give an explanation for Fez’s bra-unhooking problem. In “Your Time Is Gonna Come” (5x13), it’s simply a joke with no character development behind it. It contradicts and ignores, however, Fez’s year-long (Point Place Time™) with Rhonda. So does “Everybody Loves Casey” (4x26), wherein we learn Fez never got past kissing with Rhonda -- which makes absolutely no sense considering what we see of their relationship and characters before that episode.

Rhonda refused to have sex with Fez because she’d never waited before with a guy and wanted their first time to be special since she loved him. But they certainly did more than kiss.

“Everybody Loves Casey” ignores the above, though, to come up with a reason for Rhonda to breakup with Fez and leave Point Place, as well as to deal with her portrayer no longer being on the show. I’ve discussed this terrible writing choice in depth previously, so I won’t repeat that discussion here.

Returning to the original point, Fez would not have needed to learn how to unhook a bra in season 5. So I came up with the idea that Nina demands he be able to unhook her bra in a certain amount of time. She’s an exacting person on the show, and such a demand is not beyond her characterization.

Inspired by episode 511 - “The Girl I Love”

Comments: Um ...

Okay. *ahem* Besides blindly following the show’s misogynistic humor in this comic (apologies to every woman and woman-aligned person, including myself -- yikes), and not catching the mistake that Nina likely lives with her parents, not in her own place, the facts of Nina’s life don’t make sense -- which is what today’s comic points out in a way I’d never write now.

She’s probably not older than twenty-one, yet she’s the hiring manager at the DMV. That’s a high-level position for someone so young. The show is unclear, though, about her age and education level she’s filling out college applications in one episode. Her personality is mercurial, too. She’s a character who’s hard to pin down.

This is definitely one of those comics that needs a complete rewrite. But I post it here in its original form with this commentary as an example that misogynistic humor is not humor; it’s misogyny.

Comments: One reason I never warmed to Nina is that her character made little sense to me. She’s supposedly around Fez’s age (maybe twenty at the most), yet she has a relatively high-level job at the DMV, and her personality tends to switch on a dime. Not that people can’t be complex or their moods change, but the connection between the two versions of her never came off as solid --a t least to me.

Kelso’s advice that no woman can keep her top on around a scented candle? My advice: don’t take his advice.

I also made an purposeful anachronistic (to-the’70s) joke based on Fez’s line on the show (third panel, last row). I felt it necessary.
