Bad Luck and a Bank Robber- Nine Gates

 The right-hand man to Jin Shen within the Tong Long Triad is an uncharacteristically pious individual going under the moniker of “Nine Gates”. Much about him is left to mystery though and as with many of the “Triad”s members, he too puts up a front in his behaviour posing as a traditional musician with his erhu and oversized guzheng. 

Lacking the trademark green colours or criminal disposition to actively seek out the Tong Long’s growth, it’s unknown what drives him to have such a commitment to the group to make no mention of his monk-like visage, perhaps Shen has more in mind for their goals than meager money.

Originality can be hunted. Concentration's deep attentiveness; permeability to accident; persistence; curiosity; a wide vocabulary of outer and inner worlds—these are just a few of the ways. Playfulness and rebelliousness help. Intelligence and seriousness help. Passion. The courage for independence. A knowledge of tradition, perversely, helps.
