Um.... Is Mystic Nine 2 about Alpha Zhang Qishan, his alpha wife Xinyue, and all the Omegas that surround them? Like obviously Wu Laogou is an omega, so is Ba Ye (middle aged baby girl vibes all around), and also Jiu ye.
On a serious note, it does feel like the ambiguous tension (with highly provocative scenes like in the sauna) are clearly allowed between Zhang Qishan and Wu Laogou only because both of them have established female love interests from the start of the drama. So any interaction between them can be considered 'safely in the bro-zone'. It just shows that there was no way we were getting the simple hugs between Zhang Haixia and Zhang Hailou in Archives: The Nanyang Mystery, just because the two men's disinterest in any women (or men for that matter, apart from each other) was painfully, heartbreakingly explicit throughout all 33 episodes.
So yeah, our days of suffering under Chinese censorship is far from over.
On a slightly lighter note, I am very fascinated by the two Zhang assistants of Zhang Qishan - the masked Zhang Xiaoyu and the bespectacled Zhang Xiaojing. But I really have to admit, this is how 'hao-xiongdi' would behave around each other. YanXia in Archives The Nanyang Mystery was something else altogether. 🤣
