also this is part chauvinism from my side. 2 Unlimited has been called 'most successful Dutch export product ever'. I'm not sure if that's something we should be proud off, but there you have it. XD

I so, so love this song so freaking much.

I still remember when I first heard it. I was 9 and for some reason I was visiting a family in our street, who's children used to be my babysitter. (uh, not all 3 at the same time. They took turns as soon as one of them 'got to old' for it.) The song came on the radio while I was standing in the room of the oldest sister. I hardly remember anything else from them or from that house, only that one moment when this song started playing.

Weird.

But a good weird.

Also I'm a squishy romantic on the inside and this song is very relevant to that. <3

Bløf - Hier aan de Kust. An ode to the shore line of Zeeland, a province in the South West of the Netherlands.

Song is about the people there, the tourists, the constant lingering threat of the sea (though not so much since the Delta works, but some serious shit went down there in 1953), food, customs, etc.I'm not even from there, but I go a little emotional whenever I hear it aaah-. Sang from the heart, so it goes straight to the heart. <3

Also, that music video gives a pretty nice impression of the region.

THIS SONG CAME ON THE RADIO SUNDAY EVENING WHILE ON THE BUS AND I WAS ALMOST CRYING AGAIN, GOD.

Seriously only a few songs in the world that can to that to me. Goo Goo Dolls - Iris had the dubious honour of being able to turn me into a wibblin' mess if I focus too much on the music.

(of which another one is Spiders by System of a Down. Those vocals. Serj, you're killing me. TT__TT)
