They didn’t know exactly what happened, they just saw how a burst of energy came from the fight between Cole and Vangelis and it caused the skeletons to collapse. They had won. Somehow. They regrouped, their objective clear: help their friend and detain the villain. But when they got closer, something had changed.

Cole was… different, to say the least. His skin was this dark shade that could be mistaken for the ground itself, orange cracks and markings giving more color and light to the dark area. His hair was flowing, literally. It ended in bright orange that melted and was falling to the ground. His suit was gone as well as his new armor, all replaced by orange markings that swirled around, almost mystical. When he turned around they saw the bright eyes that glowed as well in that orange that now was all over him.

They had seen this before. They saw it with Zane when he fought the Golden Master. He felt it himself when he fought Nadakhan. They witnessed Kai do it in the Never Realm. It seemed like it was Cole’s turn. Still, something felt off.

“Fool, you do not know what you have done! You will never return!” Vangelis’s voice was heard as the guards, with Vania in charge, chained him and prepared him to get him into a high security cell.

“It’s over, don’t try to manipulate us again” Lloyd said, confident, unaware.

The guards took him away, his screams filled with pleads and fake regret.

Cole moved, looking at the centre of the cave, where the Skull Sorcerer made all his plans. He looked at the lava below.

“Well, it’s time to change back, right?” Jay said, trying to take Cole’s hand, but soon dropping it. It was extremely warm, too warm. “Come on”

“Change… back?” His voice resounded in the whole cave. Anyone would hear it. It was as if his voice came from the cave itself.

“Yeah, come back from whatever this is. We really have to give it a name” Kai joked, but soon his goofy demeanour was changed by seriousness when he didn’t see Cole move at all. “Hey buddy, we really need you back”

“Back… to what? I’m fine as I am” the worst part of the statement was the finality in it, and that’s what scared them the most “It’s here, so close… this is what I am”

“What you are isn’t whatever this is” Wu’s voice carried a tone of worry that none of them had heard in a long while. “Remember who you are, come back to us”

“Who I am?” He finally turned, his eyes filled with confusion and innocence. And Jay knew in that moment that this wasn’t like before “I am the Mountain. I am the Earth. I am where all comes from, where everyone goes”

And nothing else

After those final words, he turned and jumped into the lava pool below them, his figure completely swallowed by the element

Jay realised that fusing was not as reversible as they thought, that he had just lost his best friend. That Cole was gone.

That maybe Lilly didn’t die like they thought she did

Jay was alone in the hangar. The last few days had been… a lot. Half a year ago he lost his best friend, his other half, the one he trusted with his life, the one he had damaged beyond repair but had chosen to forgive him. And now… now he had lost the love of his life, his Yang, his reason to live. Half a year ago he lost Cole, and now he had lost Nya.

“I am Nya. I am the Sea”

It was the same thing. And what was he supposed to do now without the two most important people in his life? He was alone.

Kai left, Lloyd left, Zane left! Everyone was gone. Wu was trying to find a way to fix it, he had been for a while. Pixal stayed, she knew it was for the best. But that was it.

He thought of leaving too. Isolating himself in Dr Julien’s old tower. But that would mean being surrounded by water and almost no earth. So he thought of filling the cave with glasses of water and buckets. That way he could be with both…

He was going insane. He took them both for granted, they all did. How was he supposed to know that they would—

No, this was something they would absolutely do. Cole already had a tendency of protecting others without caring about himself since they met. And Nya needed to proof to herself that she wasn’t useless at all times. They both had saviour complex without realising.

Yes, they saved many, but at what cost?

Jay was alone, but he would keep going. He had to.

“Ninja never quit” he sighed to himself, and got to work. This city needed protection and if he was the only one that could do it, then so be it

Mudshock (Cole x Jay X Nya) to me has always and will continue to be two attractive friends sharing a hyperactive scrumblo

Jay doesn't even know how it happened. One day he was fighting with Cole her Nya(or at least he thought) and the next ge had two partners and he's too much of a bisexual disaster to complain

He gets two very attractive partners what more could a bi ask for?

I love being a multishipper in the Ninjago fandom.

The classics Jaya, Kailor, and Pixane? Heck yeah I'm down.

I'm down for some Lava, and sometimes even the Bruise, Opposite, etc(Minus anyone with Lloyd, ew)

Mudshock? Fucking sign. me. up.

My other exceptions(along with a lot of the Lloyd×team member ones) Llorumi? No. Conya on its own? Nah, I prefer it with Jay there too.
