I’ve been filming all day today too.

It was a really pretty place.

But there was some pretty strong wind.

Before I even noticed my hair got like this.

After that filming, Shunsuke, Kai-chan, Yanochin, and I went out to eat.

A statement.

Good morning.

The info ban was just lifted today, so I can say I’ll be playing the sixth in the currently running “Shuriken Sentai Ninninger”, Starninger, Kinji Takigawa.

I was finally able to get it off my chest and tell all of you. (laugh)

And it was the first time I made a news article solo. I’m very happy and excited!!

According to my mom, I’ve loved hero shoes from before I even had self-awareness, especially Super Sentai, and watched them even longer than my little brother, who’s four years behind me.

I have especially fond memories of Gaoranger and Hurricanger.

I never thought I’d be a part of one of those series at that point.

But then when I entered this industry, a dream of becoming one of those heroes started to come to light.

Some of my company seniors - Matsuzaki-san, Suda-san, Aiba-san - all had that experience, and I wanted to be a hero too! ...that kind of feeling surged up in me, and it changed from being a dream into a goal.

When I was auditioning for the part of Starninger, I had to imagine myself, and when I was watching the on-air bit of Ninninger the thought of myself in the middle of it just popped into my head.

It was really strange.

And it’s such an honor to be a part of the 40th anniversary of the Super Sentai series.

I was a part of the Tenimyu anniversary too, so I’m just a lucky guy.

Now that Tawada has decided to do this, I’ll put my full power into making it interesting and getting into even more things.

Standing here at my goal and at the entrance to a whole new stage, I have to owe it to the fans that have given me their warm feelings, watched over me, and never stopped cheering me on.

If it wasn't for all of you I wouldn’t be standing at this new turning point.

To carry out this show, to be an expressive person providing you all with a variety of entertainment, to put myself into a lot of things, to grow, so that I’ll never forget my original intentions, and so that everyone will know me as the proud actor Tawada Hideya, I’ll devote myself to it.

As I would have when I were little, so that I can make the kids smile and dream, so that I can make many people love my very own Ninninger, I’ll love Starninger and Kinji Takigawa more than anyone else, and play him with pride.

I don't usually post on weekends (unless it's queued/scheduled), but for this one it's gonna be an exception...

Well, after a year off from Super Sentai (sorry Ressha Sentai ToQger, you simply didn't appeal to me), this morning I decided to watch the new series Shuriken Sentai Ninninger... and well, here's my quick thoughts:

Completely missed the opening song, if there's even any... Keyhole's stream is always a big jerk to me.

The show felt a lot like Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. Definitely due to the thick Japanese-theme roaming throughout, but probably due to the civilian clothing's design as well. The whole family relations made it similar to Mahou Sentai Magiranger as well.

The acting definitely still needs works. I know most of the core cast are new to acting, so there's that...

Great... another rambucious Red. I liked him in the promo, but after seeing the episode... not quite. White is already annoying from the get go. Surprisingly, the cool Blue and Pink ended up as my favorite, but we'll see more in the future. Yellow is the most awkward one, he seems like he's still nervous with his acting skill (or lack of).

The henshin sequence was cool, looked similar to Shinkenger's movie version. The 360 degrees shot, while not exactly new (hi there Avengers!) looked awesome nonetheless.

The henshin device looked really 'toy/gimmick'-ish though... I honestly don't think bulky (plastic!) shurikens would've worked in real battle.

Wonderful roll-calls... the Japanese-style always looked good on screen.

The fight sequence was awesome. They utilized ninjitsu tricks neatly, and I hope they will continue to do so in the following episodes.

I'm still on the fence on the mecha choices. Seriously, a Dump Truck and a Train paired with a robotic Ninja, a Dog and a Dragon? They should've just made it like Momotaro or something. Despite that though, as usual in battle they looked neat and each performed weird Ninja tricks. I didn't think Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger even applied that tricks in mecha battles. So that's good. I think... 

The combined form is still ugly for my taste, but surprisingly the gimmick actually worked! The gattai-sequence looked good, with Shinobimaru (Red's) gathering the other mechas to combine them. The way the Ninjas inserted their swords to the 'carriage'-style cockpit, while Red used his to steer, did look good in motion, eventhough it initially looked odd in picture. The robot's head is still too big for my taste, but again... show-wise, it worked. I would never buy the action figure though...

So... Ninja training, huh? Yep... Shinkenger it is...

Catchy dance choreography for the ending! Was expecting the ending to be more catchier though... Hey, another 360 degree shot! NICE...

So, not bad... yep, not bad. I think I'll give this show a chance for several episodes before deciding to keep on watching or not. It has potentials, and I dig the theme a lot, so I might end up watching all the way. Oh and yeah, this is just an out-of-the-blue review for the premiere episode, since I woke up tooooo early (my head is still stuck with Saint Seiya Omega's timeslot!) and managed to see it via Keyhole. I'll be counting on the fansubs starting next week, so don't expect any future reviews until perhaps halfway to the series, or later when it has finished airing. Plus, no score yet as well... but I'd give this first episode a 7,5 out of 10 at best ;)
