I love when headcanons give Atsushi cat like traits and I was thinking about how cats will always stretch out and nap in sun beams
So imagine a day at the agency, they’ve had a hectic week full of cases and stress, but this day is calm and quiet
No cases, just catching up on paperwork
Kunikida goes to the common area to ask Atsushi for some information he needs, but he sees that Atsushi is stretched out on the couch in a sun beam coming in from the window, quietly snoring, paperwork he was doing still held in his hand
Kunikida gently gathers the paperwork and gets it on a table, making a mental note to wake up Atsushi when he was needed but deciding to let him rest now
But then Dazai comes in and sees
And he’s like heck yeah, Atsushi has the right idea
And flings himself down on the couch alongside Atsushi and starts settling in to take a nap of his own
Kunikida scolds him saying they need to work and that he gives Atsushi a pass for being young and new to the job and not used to the exertion but they really need to work
Dazai just laughs and says there’s no cases and paperwork can wait a day, and closes his eyes
Hearing the commotion some of the others start trickling in, see the scene, and decide to join
Ranpo happily flings his paperwork away and snuggles up in a corner of the couch, making a comment about how it was just about boring him to sleep already anyway, Naomi drags Tanizaki to a spot where they can lay together, Kenji jumps in just happy to be included
Kunikida is exasperated and goes to ask Yosano for help, only to see her settling in beside Ranpo! She gives him a shrug and says it’s the first day in a week she hasn’t had to save one of them from dying and she deserves the beauty sleep
Kunikida is frustrated and begins gathering the paperwork to go complete on his own, but when he gets too close to the couch to grab the papers Ranpo had dropped, Dazai grabs his wrist and yanks, causing him to lose balance and fall on the couch
He tells kunikida again that the paperwork can wait a day, that they all need the rest
But instead of the jokey teasing way of talking, he’s being serious and sincere, and Kunikida says fine, but only for a little while
Everyone falls asleep together all tangled up on the couch
