I might have to eat some old crow on Nirvana in Fire because as someone who dropped it back when it first came out, for years I held it as my "popular show that I didn't enjoy" drama.

But I am enjoying it now? a lot? I mean, I still question Mei Changsu's decision to install Xiao Jingyan as the emperor, like that cinnamon roll of a grumpy cat should not be anywhere near the throne.

But the characters have depth! And how Nihuang manages to be Strong (TM) but doesn't feel like a #bossbabe inspo poster.

Mei Changsu, are you sure about the whole making Xiao Jingyan into emperor thing?

I mean, I get that this is a political intrigue primarily, but how about finding that bad tempered cinnamon roll of a boy a nice girl/boy (whichever way he swings) and allow him a peaceful life away from the throne.

I'm currently reading The Langya List (I watched NiF I think ~2 years ago) and the differences between the two Prince Yus are intriguing.

Book!Jinghuan appears to be more capable and forward than Show!Jinghuan - he actually thinks through things successfully by himself, isn't just 100% dependent on Qin Banruo and straight forward keeps pursuing her (no cringey face pinching). The only time he's that suave in the show is at the assassination attempt.

But I really loved him being an embarrassingly eager dumbass in the show, and at least there are hints of that left in his pursuit of Mei Changsu's services.

His role has been quite elevated for the show, and made more irresistibly fucky personable. I don't think I would have thought twice about him just from his novel!version 😭.

Is there an easy place to watch Nirvana in Fire C-drama Series?

Edit : I just tried 𝖣𝗋𝖺𝗆𝖺𝖫𝗂𝗑.𝗑𝗒𝗓 with clean design, no lag, quick uploads, and zero ads.

Most options either force expensive access or hit you with buffering. Geo-blocks ruin the smart revenge story for me.
