Continuing the modern house scene's  quest for the raw and the authentic, what better place than to look for such things than in the past? This one from Jovonn is another that's undergone a repressing, this time from Don Williams' Berlin outfit Mojuba late last year (for DJs only - the general mixing public could get their hands on it in 2013). The sound is classic '90s deep house, with a cheeky garage flavour tempered by a heavy coating of a jazzed-up sax sample. Like the stuff you'd here walking home late in a city, rain on the pavement, echoes in the alleys. Some people criticised the Rp as a bass-heavy muddy mess, but we think the Tuff City Kids' Garage Shelter remix was a worthy addition, and kept Mojuba's intentions on point.

In 1990, JoVonn exploded on the Dance scene with his second release Turn and Runaway on Warner Bros. Since then JoVonn has produced more than 200 records in Dance, Hip Hop, R&B and Neo soul genres but his true love is Dance music.
