This week’s Tbt/Throwback Thursday is extremely personal to me. This entry is about a video game. This video game was a humongous part of my family. Even my mom, (who hates video games) cheered us on. It united us in times of war. It was a common ground/cease fire arena. Even though, this video game had a component that also settled some disputes. I read on a post that this game is where real gangstas settled their beefs back in the day. And I couldn’t agree more. The main story was a unified collaboration. But, the fuckin multiplayer…that shit was serious. To let you know how serious it was, I’m going to reveal something. Back in those days I was young, and curious damn it…I didn’t know what I was doing! And one day after my family had literally spent months on beating the game…I erased the memory. And afterwards I was scorned. I was lower than shit; even my mom criticized me. To this day, I try my best to avoid this topic. Because, if I even mention retro games, the whipping starts again. It’s been a while, so I’ve been safe…for now. This game was, and still is one of the greatest games ever created. It was a pioneer. People celebrate GTA V for enabling multiple characters for the main story. But, this game did it 15 years before. It was an open-world game, with several different levels. It was a vast world, with several different objectives. And the normal story was extremely large. That’s why we united to defeat it. It was so large, and entertaining that no one man…or woman could do it alone. That’s why I was verbally abused for my actions. We only got half way through, and it took months to get there. That’s what you got from “old school” gaming. You buy a game for about 40 bucks, and it’ll last for more than a week. We didn’t need online gaming to make a 60 dollar investment worth wild. And nowadays you don’t even get a full game. After buying the game, you have to buy a dlc pack. Or a season pass to get the complete experience. And that costs more money. Arkham Knight’s season pass costed 40 bucks. So, it costed 💲💯 to get the complete experience. But, not in the good old days. We have better graphics nowadays. But, we didn’t need that back then. We cared about the entertainment aspect of this endeavor. They didn’t look like real people, but who cares? This game had horrible graphics, but who cares? This son of a bitch was fun.
