I unfortunately still haven't edited/ voiced over the NI3-NH3 video I filmed. Recently got rid of strep throat around a week ago and my vocal cords are just now recovering, so hopefully I can finish that in the next few days!

My next video will most likely be on NCL3, as I already have most of the supplies, and the ones I don't have are easy to buy locally anyways.

i’m drinking with the brother in law and we started talking about chemistry. [crystals in the wine -> which are cream of tartar, or potasium bitatrate -> which is burned to make potasium carbonate -> which is one of many different types of potash -> another type being potassium permanganate, which is purple-ish and can react violently in simple alcohols -> which is like nitrogen triiodide, another purple thing that reacts, but much more violently, and with nothing other than light contact.]

Nitrogen triiodide is so unstable that even something like a mosquito landing on it can set it off. Three iodine atoms cluster around one side of a nitrogen atom. Being crowded around one end causes something called bond strain as the atoms repel each other in a small space. The result is that the molecule is prone to falling apart, explosively.
