Wouldn’t recommend betting on it. Our Statistics and Divinations Department have declared that by all plausible probability models it’s a miracle that Nivix hasn’t spontaneously ceased to exist yet. “Too many explosive substances and temperaments per square meter,” they say.

I’ve been toying with this idea for a custom commander, for a strange sort of UR Voltron. Basically a Nivix Cyclops Plus type deal. 

I think it’s got a lot of versatile utility, and can get the big beats depending on what is thrown at it. It can work as simply get extra value from buffs, red shirt for you/your stuff, or even seal your opponents’ combat tricks if they’re not paying attention.

Seems a little weak maybe? I don’t really know balance that well, and some advice on that front would be appreciated. Indestructibility might be the way to go, so that it can soak more spells, but I sort of wanted it to feel like there should be a price to the buffs if you’re using him to lightning rod for the team.

Flavor-wise, Zix is another Izzet experiment, a more subtle flavor of weird that simply absorbs magic as it comes, sliding through wards like butter as they short circuit in his presence, swallowing lightning whole and not missing a beat. It’s another face of the Izzet, rather than outputting all the flash and energy that they’re about it takes that within itself to achieve perfection.

...Did I make up the idea of Nivix being about ninety percent levitating architecture? Because I’ve had that as my mental image for ages but I just looked up some art for other purposes and none of it has floaty bits in it. Did this show up in The Secretist or a UR or something similar and I’ve just forgotten?

Okay but imagine Niv-Mizzet holding a huge happening at Nivix to show off with how prestigious his Guild is. Everyone is groomed and cleaned and newest tech is on display shining with brass. However since we are dealing with Izzet, pranks can’t be avoided. And for example group of Frostburns, and other frost based weirds, along with Melek are placed armorless among the ice sculptures and told to stay perfectly still until right moment. When someone compliments them out loud they would all bow simultaneously while Melek would thank the person for positive feedback on their design.
