Did you know magpies could speak? There's a story of a boy that accidentally taught a magpie words, cause the guy talked back to him. Then he taught him swearwords, but only at a whisper pitch.
Sad middle to the story though; the boy grew up and went off to the army, and his strict mother that confined the magpie to the basement didn't have the bird there long enough for anyone to know how well she'd do. Hopefully the magpie went off to a happier life.

Meet Kota! She and his family were present for the grand opening of The Wandering Jellyfish bookstore in Niwot, Colorado, which was founded by my co-worker Amanda's sister. Amanda flew in from Georgia for the occasion, and my co-worker Velda happened to be in town from Utah, so we all met up to enjoy some books! Kota had the same idea, except I think she was more keen on what the ice cream truck was doling out. Oh, Kota!
