Nemo was #stressed. Or $tressed, depending on your humour, lol.
Honestly, it was the same ol song and dance since he was a seedling. He didn’t have any money, but he needed money. He’d been working at Ruff 2 Fluff, but could never put in enough hours, between dance and performing for the Hollow, to contribute much to the looming problem that was university in the fall. Slap on the fact that it was Louie’s birthday at the end of the month, prom coming up, and he’d just taken a chunk out of his savings to get Appa a new Mountain Goats record and--!
You got a pretty desperate Nemo.
That was how he ended up shuffling into the new thrift store in town. Nemo didn’t have many nice things, but there were a few items Robbie had bought him and Finny had made that he figured could get something. Did he feel guilty pawning off precious gifts like this??? Yes!!! Ugh, he sucked.
Push comes to shove though, yanno?
“Um, hi,” said Nemo as he approached the counter where Ms. Chakraborty was manning the register. His eartips were already bright red. “I have uh, some stuff I thought I could sell here...”
That morning, I followed the same routine I'd been following for the past 12 years of my life. I woke up around 5am, getting dressed into clothes suitable for jogging and sliding in my glasses. In all technicality, I didn't need them to see anything, buuut since one eye is far sighted and the other's near sighted, I still wore them. It was basically habit at this point even though I always took them off during competition... As I stood from tying my tennis shoes, I saw a wrapped package by the foot of my bed. What the hell? I sat down beside it, looking at the tag. "Your Mom used to tell our Dad how much you love ice skating. He got these for you a couple years ago, but he never got the chance to give them to you. Hopefully, you'll enjoy them. See you when I get home, Sae." I read. I opened it to find a duffel bag and... A new pair of white ice skates. A blue phoenix was embroidered on them, the tail feathers changing into a blue rose. Uncle got these for me? They must have cost him a fortune! New skates can be anywhere from 500 to 1500 dollars in America, so it could't have been cheap to get these plus a duffel bag, let alone skates that are custom made. Shaking it off, I packed my new skates into my duffel bag, along with everything else I needed that I was able to bring with me. I did my usual warm ups.. Or at least what I normally did before even hitting the ice. I then got on my phone, looking up ice skating ranks. Conveniently enough, there was one right by my new home... Kōri No Hōō Ice rink. My eyes nearly popped out of my skull when I saw the pictures of the place. It was an ice rink and a ballet studio in one?! There was only one other rink that I knew of that was like that, but it was in Hasetsu... And it was owned by Anastasia Plisetsky, Yuri Plisetsky's wife....
I looked up the opening times... It opened at 6am. Perfect, I could fill up my water bottle, go for a run to get over there and make it in time before it opens. I pulled my hair into a ponytail, slung my duffel bag over my shoulder and left the confines of my room with my water bottle in hand. "You're up early." I heard the voice of the younger of my cousins. When I looked, she was standing in the kitchen, and by the looks of it, she was preparing to make breakfast.
"I could say the same about you." I told her. Makoto, the younger of my cousins at around 17 or 18 years old, had brown hair in a bob cut with blunt bangs and a French-braid styled headband that matched her hair color. Her eyes were the same mauve red as Sae and myself, however, in certain lightings, her eyes appeared completely ruby red. Annoyingly enough, she's 5'5", taller than me, even if only by an inch. I know that doesn't sound like much, but still...
"Are you... Going to try out your new skates?" Makoto asked. I nodded as I moved to the sink. Just before I was about to turn on the tap, Makoto stopped me and opened the fridge, showing me a pitcher of water with a filter in it. "Drinking the tap water in a newer country isn't a good idea... Sis got this pitcher a few months ago so you could have good, cold water when you practice. Just remember to refill it if it gets low."
"Thanks." I replied, filling my water bottle with he water in the pitcher. "Do you want some help with breakfast? I don't mind waiting to leave until later on."
"That would be great, if you don't mind." Makoto replied. I put my stuff down and washed my hands before helping Makoto with breakfast. We didn't end up doing anything too fancy, just some eggs and bacon. I ended up making a breakfast sandwich with some bagels they had and took it to go before taking off on my run. I was thankful I'd offered to help Makoto, because it took me 15 minutes shorter than I thought to get to the rink. I got there just as a teenager was unlocking the doors.
"Good morning." She greeted me. Her eyes were ice blue, just like Anastasia's, but her hair was a shimmering pale gold color, similar to Yuri Plisetski's... Wait a second... She looks like....
"Yuki, close those doors! We don't want the warm air coming in!" A Russian accented voice came from inside.
"Coming, Mama!" Yuki replied to her mother. She then smiled at me, nodding toward the inside. "Come on in, you look like you want to get some practice in." I did as I was told, finding myself amazed at the inside. It was beautiful, a soft music playing in the lobby. "Just so you know, when you come in this early, first time's always free, but you gotta remember to pay the fine everytime after that... Unless Mama decides to coach you, then her coaching fees cover the cost of using the rink and the ballet studio." She led me to the locker rooms before letting me change out of my tennis shoes and into my skates. I put the blade guards on them before walking around a bit. "Oh, those are new skates for you, huh?" She asked. I nodded. Once I was satisfied, I walked to the entrance of the ice. I hadn't been on the ice in 3 months... I took a shaky breath before taking off the blade guards and walking onto the ice, pushing off into a glide. My muscle memory took over as I glided around the rink a couple times, the familiar feeling coming back. Before I knew it, I'd done a couple laps, taking off my glasses. "Can you watch these for me? There's something I wanna do, and I don't want my glasses to fall off." I asked. Yuki nodded.
"Yeah." Yuki answered before taking my glasses from me. I set my phone down.
"When I give the signal, play the song named track 7." I told her, opening my music player for her. She nodded and I skated to the middle, standing with my arms at my side and my hip popped. I took a deep breath, letting it out of my mouth before nodding to Yuki.
Once the music started, I moved my arms, following the movements Yuri Katsuki had done years prior. All the jumps are in the second half, though, I guess I'll find out if I'm still good with my stamina... I thought as I went through the step sequence, moving to the music. The step sequences and the spins were no problem for me, even if I had been off the ice for 3 months, but it was the jumps I was worried about... Once the notes of the second half started, I went into the movement Yuri did before his jumps... My skates clacked against the ice as I executed the triple axel followed by the quad combo. So far so good, but my body's getting tired and I still have a quad left. I thought. The quad left was a quad flip, one of the most difficult quads in the sport. I went into it, getting enough rotations, but accidentally stepping out of it. Damn it... I went into the last spin combo before doing the finishing move and pose as the music ended.
"THAT WAS AWESOME!" Yuki's voice echoed through the empty building, her amazement apparent. Next to her was her mother. The woman was an older version of Yuki, and it was easy to see that my suspicions had been correct. The woman was Sanya Plisetsky, the daughter of Yuri and Anya Plisetsky. She was applauding.
"You certainly have the talent, I'll say that much." Sanya told me as I skated to the wall, putting my glasses back on for the moment. "The last quad was sloppy, so we'll have to work on that." I looked at her. What was she trying to say?
"I don't understand..." I trailed off. She looked at me.
"You want to compete again this season, yes?" She asked. I nodded in response. "From now on, I'm going to be your new coach. We'll get your endurance up and get you ready for the qualifier competition coming in September. Yes, we have a lot of work to do in 5 months, but it will be worth it in the end. Are you up to the challenge?" I nodded.
"Yes ma'am."
"Wonderful. We'll talk about my fees after your second lesson." Sanya told me. I nodded before our work officially began. Before I knew it, Sae was calling me and asking me to come home.
"Since you'll be starting school tomorrow, we have to introduce you to the staff there. We're gonna be late if you don't hurry, especially since I'll be going on the trains with you so you have time to get used to the train schedules." Sae told me over the phone when I answered. I nodded.
"Okay, I'm on my way." I replied before we hung up.
"Come back after school tomorrow. Your next lesson will continue with breaking in your new skates and improving your form."
"Yes, ma'am, I'll be here." I promised before changing back into my tennis shoes and heading for home. As soon as I got back, Sae had me change into the uniform. I put my hair up in a neat bun to look at least a bit presentable as we were leaving. The ride there was pretty much silent, but my thoughts were running rampant. What would this new school be like? Would I find friends here? Or would it just be more of the same old bull crap I was used to?
"I know that look." Sae spoke up. "I'm sure you'll be just fine. You'll have Makoto there to help you, and I'm sure you'll make new friends."
"You don't know me that well..." I mumbled. I could feel her eyes on me for a minute, but the feeling went away before I could ask her what she wanted to say. I sighed softly as we walked up to the school. It certainly was big... I tried to shake off my nerves as I walked up the steps with Sae. That was the first time I saw him... He was walking out with a man as we were walking in. He was a tall young man of slim to athletic build. He had a pale complexion with unkempt, wavy black hair that fell over his eyes. His eyes were gray and had long eyelashes, though his eyes were hidden behind black framed, circular glasses. The day I saw him for the first time, he was wearing the winter Shujin uniform for boys: a red-buttoned black blazer with Shujin's emblem on the pocket, a white turtleneck shirt with chevron detailing on the collar and slim red pants with a plaid pattern. He stopped in his tracks before going back to the door, holding it open for us. While Sae nodded to him in thanks, I was a flustered fool. "Thank you." I told him, bowing slightly before following Sae inside. When I glanced back, I saw a smile on his face. I continued to follow Sae, looking around the halls. I'd been right about it being a big school, but I hadn't counted on it being three stories plus the roof. It was bigger than I could have thought. When we got to the principal's office, Sae knocked on the door.
"Come in." A male voice sounded from the other side. We entered the room, but I nearly stopped in my tracks at the sight of the principal. When I tell you this guy was fat.... Overweight doesn't even begin to describe how this guy looked... He was bald, with beady brown eyes I hoped I'd never have to look at again. His clothes weren't too shabby, him wearing a beige suit and a red bow tie, but, other than that? Blech.... "Ah, you must be Shizuka Takeshi. My condolences about your mother, truly tragic indeed..." He trailed off. I shifted a bit.
"Thank you, sir." I murmured, feeling a bit uncomfortable. As Sae and the principal talked, I noticed the teacher standing next to the principal. She was a youthful-looking woman of medium height and a slender build. She had dark brown unkempt hair, dark brown eyes and a somewhat long and sleepy face. She was wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt striped with white and red horizontal lines, a blue denim skirt and white kitten heel pumps. A cute outfit all in all, fit for a teacher around her age. "To reiterate, just so we're clear, young lady," I turned my attention back to the principal, as much as I didn't want to look at him for another minute. As the principal was talking, Sae was finishing the forms he'd given her to sign. "You'll be expelled immediately if you cause any problems. With your career as a figure skater on the verge of rising again, I want to make sure your scores on and off the ice are top standard. You're an honor student for now..."
"Please excuse my interruption, but I'd just like to be treated like everyone else. I didn't get special treatment at my old school because of my scores on or off the ice, and I don't expect that to start now." I interrupted, despite my mind screaming at me to shut up.
"In that case, you'll be a regular student for now. With top tier grades, I can move you into the honors classes if you wish, but if you're not an honor's student, you'll have to manage your time wisely in order to balance your life on and off the ice." He continued. I'm not five, I've been doing all that for the past 12 years, it's not anything new. I wanted to tell him, but kept my mouth shut, instead saying,
"Understood, sir." He, then, turned to the teacher next to him.
"This is the teacher in charge of your class." He told me.
"I'm Sadayo Kawakami. Here's your student ID. Be sure to read the school rules, any violations will send you straight to the guidance office. And, if by chance you cause any problems, I won't be able to protect you at all." She turned to the principal. "That is your promise, yes, Principal Kobayakawa?" Damn, that's a mouthful of a name.... The principal nodded.
"Mmhmm, she's responsible for all her actions." Principal Kobayakawa answered.
"Come to the Faculty Office when you arrive at school tomorrow, I'll show you to your classroom, but don't you dare be late." She added.
"Yes, ma'am." I answered, bowing slightly.
"I have high hopes for you, young lady. We'll see you tomorrow morning." Principal Kobayakawa told me. Both Sae and I bowed before she took me home. I wanted to go explore the town, but with Makoto being off, Sae thought it would be a better idea for me to stay home and study Japanese. Lame... It wasn't like I was going to master it overnight, for crying out loud...
But, I stuck it out with Makoto, doing as I was told anyway. Stick in the mud as she is, I did have to admit that she's a great teacher. From everything I'd had to do that day, I fell asleep faster than I thought I would.
"There was a terrible subway accident that day. You remember it, don't you? I assume you know of the uproar the public calls the "psychotic breakdown incidents"."
"Yeah, I heard about them... But Shujin had a way for over exaggerating things." I replied.
"Nevertheless, they were all over the news, and one of the victims was a teacher at your high school. I've no doubt you heard about it. On your first day, were you still an 'ordinary' student?" I blinked. What was she getting at? She must have seen my confusion, because she spoke up again. "Let me change the question. You transferred to Shujin, correct?" I nodded.
"You oughta know that better than anyone." I answered.
"An ordinary prep school that could be found in any city... That's what it should have been... What happened around that time? Tell me everything truthfully."
April 11th
Early the next morning, I woke up to find the Shujin Academy uniform for girls on my bed. The first thing I noticed was the plaid skirt. It looked a little too short for my liking and dug in my suitcase for my black leggings. Once I found them, I got changed, putting on the white turtleneck and black bow before pulling on the black blazer with red buttons over the top. I put on my leggings next, then the skirt, which was just as short as I though it would be, much to my horror. Great. I then brushed my hair, using Mom's bandanna to pull my hair back. I'd take it off if the teachers threw a fit over it, but at that second, I needed a reminder of Mom to help me. This would be the first time I'd be going to a new school without Mom there to wish me well. I just hoped everything would be okay... "Ready?" I heard Makoto's voice before seeing her peek her head in, although, she didn't look too impressed with the fact that I was wearing Mom's bandanna as a headband.
"Don't look at me like that, if I get in trouble for it, I get in trouble for it." I told her, trying to keep the annoyance out of my voice for her sake, but feeling annoyed by her already.
We left early to catch the trains, but, it was still late due to the accident the day before. I sighed. I should have expected this... I'm just glad Makoto had thought ahead. "The main reason we're leaving so early is not just because of the trains. I have to be at the school early for a student council meeting. You don't have to come with me since your homeroom teacher won't be there yet."
"It would probably be better for me to be, though. Just in case." I told her. Makoto nodded.
"Suit yourself." She replied before leading the way to the school. I followed her, looking around as we walked. I wanted to memorize my surroundings, that way I knew what to look for if I ever got lost.
"Makoto?"
"Hmmm?"
"Is there anyone I should watch out for?" I asked. Makoto was quiet for a minute.
"There's a couple students you shouldn't get involved with, but a teacher to watch out for is Kamoshida. There are rumors around school that he uses physical punishments if the volleyball team can't perform to his liking. I don't want you anywhere near him."
"Well, are they true?" I asked, only to get silence. "Makoto?"
"I don't know if they are or not." Makoto answered. I felt like she was lying to me, but decided to ignore it for the time being. As soon as we exited out of the train stop, we both realized it was raining. "Shoot!" Makoto exclaimed before starting to jog. I jogged as well, but stopped when I saw the boy from the day before. He was under an awning waiting for the rain to let up a bit. Since Makoto was already too far ahead to hear me, I sent her a text telling her I was going to say hi to someone I'd met and promised that I'd meet her at school. With that accomplished, I jogged over to him.
"Hi." I greeted him. He looked up from his phone, looking shocked for a minute before smiling at me.
"Hi again." He greeted back.
"I wanted to thank you again for holding the door open for me yesterday."
"Oh, it was no trouble..."
"Oh! Sorry, I didn't introduce myself... I'm Shizuka Takeshi."
"I'm Ren Amamiya, it's nice to meet you." I did have to admit that his smile was devilishly charming.
"Likewise." I smiled back up at him. After that, we stood in comfortable silence for a few minutes. A few minutes later, another girl joined us. At first, her head was covered by the hood of the white varsity jacket she wore. Once she got under the canopy we were under, she brushed the raindrops off of her shoulders before she removed her hood. She had wavy platinum blonde hair that was styled in bushy pigtails with parted side bangs on the right side of her face, accessorizing with a single yellow hair clip above her left ear as well as small circular earrings on both ears. She also had bright, kind looking blue eyes. Her sweatshirt had a red stripe between two blue stripes at the bottom, an S symbol near the front bottom on one side and a green four-leaf-clover symbol on the back of the hood. She was wearing red tights and brown boots with yellow laces. I also noticed that her sweatshirt covered most of her skirt... She must've felt us staring at her because she looked at us and gave a small smile before watching the rain. I soon turned my attention to the road, watching the rain make ripples in the puddles. What I hadn't counted on was him....
A white car pulled up, stopping in front of us before the window rolled down. The driver had long black unkempt hair and thick eyebrows. His jawline was broad and square. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black track pants with double white stripes. He appeared to be generally athletic, with a mildly muscular build. I noticed that he was wearing what appeared to be a red timer and a whistle. For reasons I wouldn't know until later, I was getting bad vibes from him depsite the kind look on his face... "Good morning, do you want a ride? You're gonna be late." He was talking to the girl to my left, apparently not seeing me or Ren.
"Um, sure, thank you." She answered, getting in the car before the driver turned to Ren and myself. I shuddered at the way his dark eyes roamed over me, like a predator eyeing his prey...
"Do you two need a lift too?" He asked us. I half hid behind Ren, not wanting to be seen before murmuring a small,
"No, thank you." I didn't want to be under his gaze for too long. His eyes shifted to Ren, who gave a smile and waved it off. The girl's window rolled up, and he drove away, allowing me to step out of hiding. At the same time, a boy ran past us, stopping just a couple feet away.
"Damn it! Screw that pervy teacher!" The boy mumbled.
"Pervy teacher?" Ren and I asked at the same time, causing the boy to turn to us. He had short spiky blond hair and dark brown eyes. I noticed he had a widow's peak and his eyebrows were unusual in that he lacked the outer sides. He looked pretty muscular, too... The clothes he was wearing when he saw him for the first time was the standard black blazer, but it was unbuttoned to reveal a yellow t-shirt with a comic style star symbol and the word 'ZOMG!' He had plaid trousers rolled up to reveal his ankles. His pants had black suspenders that hung down instead of being worn on his shoulders. He had a white belt around his waist and white sneakers with a rising sun flag motif. He approached us and I half hid behind Ren again, this time scared of the kid in front of me. His posture screamed threatening, and it didn't help that the guy was pretty tall.
"What'd you want? You plan on ratting me out to Kamoshida?" The boy asked, his tone threatening.
"Kamoshida?" It was Ren who spoke up for us both, meanwhile, I was trying to figure out where I'd heard that name... The boy went from threatening to confused in the blink of an eye.
"Huh? In that car just now, that was Kamoshida." The boy explained. Wait... Kamoshida as in the teacher Makoto warned me about?! That was what he looked like? "He does whatever he wants... Who does he think he is, the king of a castle? Don't you agree?"
"The king of a castle?" I asked, moving out of hiding again.
"No I mean..." He then got a look at our uniforms. "Wait, are you two for real? You're from Shujin, right?" He asked.
"You're from Shujin too?" Ren asked.
"No other school has a uniform like this." He looked over us again. "Second years, huh? We're the same grade then. Never seen you two before though...." A look of realization crossed his face. "Oh, are you guys transfer students?" We both nodded in response. "Then no wonder you guys don't know him. This rain ain't too bad. We better hurry up or we'll be late." Just as we turned to walk toward school, I suddenly felt light headed. I touched my forehead with one hand, wondering where the heck this feeling had come from. The boy groaned. "My head hurts... Damn it, I wanna go home." We followed the boy as he led the way to school, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was... Different. I'd been paying attention the last time, and everything looked the same, so, why was I getting this feeling? As we were walking, I noticed the boy leading the way had a slight limp in his walk. Had his leg been broken before or something? "WHA-?!" The boy's shout broke me out of my thoughts, looking ahead as I stopped beside the boy, Ren on his other side. Much to my alarm, instead of Shujin Academy, we were looking at a castle of some kind. All three of us looked back the way we came. "We didn't... Come the wrong way though..." We all looked at the sign. "Yeah, this should be right... What's going on here? Guess we'll just have to go in and ask." We walked inside together, but the inside looked like the school for a minute before turning back into the castle's entrance hall... Was I seeing things? "Th-that's weird... Where's the school?"
"Is this our school?" I asked. He turned to us.
"It should be... It said Shujin on the gate." He answered. "What's goin' on here?" He pulled out his phone. "No service? Where'd we end up?" He put his phone away. "The sign was for the school, right?"
"Yeah." I answered.
"Right?!" Just then, we heard footsteps. When he turned, a knight with a pale green mask was in front of us. He held a shield in one hand and a sword in the other. Something about the guy struck me as off. "Geeze! You really freaked me out! Who're you? You a student?" The boy stepped closer to the newcomer. "Man, you're costume's impressive... Is that armor real?" When he got no response, the blond crossed his arms over his chest. "C'mon, don't just stand there, say something."
"Hey, guys, something doesn't feel right..." I started to say, but was interrupted when a second one joined us.
"H-hey, what's going on?" The blond asked.
"Is he school staff?" Ren asked.
"Dude, I don't know." The blond replied. The first guy stepped closer, the blond's eyes widening. "...This shit's real." As the second stepped toward us, the blond began panicking... Which, wasn't doing anything for me, honestly... "C-calm down! Time out, man!" He then turned to us. "We gotta run!"
"Got it." Ren replied.
"Stop standing around and run!" The blond yelled. But just as we started to run back the other way, two more blocked our path. "Ugh, what's with these guys?" Before either of us could answer, one of the knights stepped up behind the blond. Before I could warn him, the knight hit him in the back with his shield. "Gah! O-ow, y-you're gonna break my bones, damn it! The hell you think you're- Ah!" Two guards grabbed him, cutting off what he had to say. I stepped toward the blond to help him, only to get grabbed myself.
"Let go of me!" I screamed. I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head. The last thing I heard before I passed out was a voice.
Celsus professes himself baffled by the extent to which Jesus's teachings seem to contradict many of those laid down in the Old Testament. Have the rules of an allegedly omniscient god changed over time? If so, then "who is wrong? Moses or Jesus? Or when the Father sent Jesus had he forgotten what commands he gave to Moses?" Or maybe God knew he was changing his mind, and Jesus was a legal messenger, sent to give notice that God wished to "condemn his own laws and change his mind."

When I was a little kid, watching figure skating was the highlight of every year. I remember sitting in front of the TV, watching wide eyed as the figure skaters danced beautifully across the ice, practically flying. "You can do that too, you know." My mom used to tell me. "It'll take hard work, but one day, my love, that just may be you. If that's the dream you want, you have to go for it. Do you understand?" I had nodded, promising that I would. The lessons started when I was 3... But I had no idea of knowing just how much I'd rely on my skating...
About 6 years after the first time I ever skated on ice, I was in the sectionals for that year. I felt intense pressure like never before, despite being not even 10 years old yet. I wanted to win for my Mom... My short program went well, but the free program.... I ended up landing wrong and fell hard on the ice. Just as I hit the cold surface, pain erupted from my ankle. I just remember screaming because I was in so much pain, but before I could look at the ankle the pain was coming from, my coach blocked my view of it. Of course, my ankle was broken, and I had to hobble around on crutches for about 10 weeks followed by another month or so of physical therapy. With that much time off, I knew I wasn't going to come even close to making the nationals that year, but that wasn't as important as to what happened next...
My mom... The strongest woman I'd ever known, and my inspiration for skating, suddenly started got sick. At first, it started as "just a cold", but then it progressively got worse. The sicker she got, the harder I found to focus on anything but Mom, and that included skating... She always encouraged me to keep going, that she'd be there every practice and every performance... Until this past December...
It was a few days after Christmas when the competition I'd been waiting for came up. I aced my short program, but as soon as I noticed Mom wasn't there like usual, it went downhill, and I ended up in fourth place... But it meant I wouldn't be moving on... Just like 5 years prior. She had promised she'd be there... Where was she? Afterward, we went to the hospital to find my Mom bedridden, but something looked off to me. She looked like... Death. While she lay in that bed, I told her about what happened, how disappointed in myself I was for messing up. "Sweetheart, you don't have to be perfect. We're all human, and I know you'll find a way to rise up the way you were always meant to. My chīsana fenikkusu." Little Phoenix... When that nickname left her lips, I knew something was definitely wrong. She hadn't called me that in years...
"Mom?" I asked her. That's when I saw the tears rolling down her face.
"I'm so sorry... I won't be able to keep my promise anymore. Please, promise me you won't give up. Promise me that you'll take care of yourself."
"I promise, Mom, but you have to fight..." I was trying to hide how scared I was, but I already knew what was happening.
"I'm sorry, Shizuka. But, I can't fight anymore. I love you, sweetheart, never forget that."
"I love you too, Mom." Those words were the last thing I'd ever say to her....
