Guess what I watched with my tata this weekend. They are all so gay, and this is honestly the most shocking TV series about war I've ever seen. I love this fanfic, so sweet and good.
Ending quote:
Dick leans forward and kisses Lew all of a sudden, like a kid taking a dare before he can lose his nerve. The kiss is sweet and simple, and Lew breathes him in. Then Dick gets on top of him, neatly pressed clothing and all. His eyes are bright as he settles between Lew’s legs.
“I’ll take you there.”
In February 2017 Ross Owen spoke to Ron Livingston who portrayed Lewis Nixon.
It took Ron Livingston 7 years to finally agree to an interview with Ross Owen, who has interviewed almost everyone else in the Band of Brothers cast. Ron said one reason was that Lewis Nixon wouldn’t have done it - he never spoke to Stephen Ambrose for the book, never wanted the spotlight. But thank goodness, Ron finally agreed (sounds like it’s thanks to Rick Gomez!) because the interview is a DELIGHT. Here are some of my favorite bits (in no particular order):
When asked his favorite scenes to film, he hedged a bit, but finally landed on the LAKE OF LOVE! That’s what I call it, but Ron himself said offering Winters the job back in NJ with him was like “asking Winters to the prom” when they weren’t able to talk about their feelings! My heart!
Asked if he wanted to give a shoutout to anyone in the cast, he said Shane, because he hasn’t seen Shane in years and that Shane’s performance as Doc Roe was “brilliant” with a “deep humanity”
Talked about Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg in auditions - Tom had his Castaway beard, and Ron just assumed it was his normal off-set look!
One of the audition scenes was when Nix tells Winters about the Vat 69 in his footlocker, and Ron said in the audition he forgot it was his line when it came time for the punchline about the Vat 69, and he remembered it belatedly and got a big laugh because they thought it was his excellent comedic timing XD
Talked a lot about how wonderful Grace (Nixon’s wife) was. Said she was sharp as a tack
Asked what the real Dick Winters said to help him play Nixon, Ron said Dick didn’t say much useful, simply “Don’t fuck it up!”
Ross had to ask Ron about the infamous KEYBOARD CAT video, and Ron apparently spent 2 days in his basement making it, while his wife would occasionally come down and shake her head at him in disbelief
A lot of the cast still call each other by their character names some of the time - Popeye is just Popeye, and Ron says he calls Cudlitz “Bull”
There was a lot more - Ron is very thoughtful and in depth with all of his answers. Some hilarious anecdotes, some really touching sentiments. A must listen for any fan of Band of Brothers or Lewis Nixon!
(Just a note, when I tried to go to the interview directly on Soundcloud, it was removed, so the link may not work. Let me know if you want the MP3 because I was able to snag it.)
