I don't know what's better Lupita or nicole kidman reaction😂
Can Kidman make it throug an Oscars ceremony without becoming a meme? I feel like it's impossible for her at this point lol
Sometimes your mistakes are you biggest virtues. You learn so much from the mistake. Those things that you think are the worst thing that's happening to you can somehow turn around and be the greatest opportunity.

I think actors are getting so much more power these days, but I'm not. I stay very much away from the decisions, the way in which things are orchestrated, what's been changed. I just try to stay completely in the role as the actor and as the character.
What you said about the actress in 13 Reasons Why about her facial features & what not was something I found myself thinking too but then I saw an interview with her & found out she was Australian. Which made me go Ohhh! I don't know if it's just me but actresses with accents who end up acting without their accent, I feel like the way they say things/features are vastly different than how they normally speak. If that makes sense. Case in point Ruth Wilson. On Luther she keeps her thick 1/2
British accent but then on The Affair which I've been binging she doesn't use her British accent & it's night & day. Her facial features & how she says things are very different. Great acting on her part. Nicole Kidman & Margot Robbie have said in different interviews when doing an American accent, they have to re-work their entire way of speaking which in turns makes their facial features end up changing as well. Which makes sense to me at least. Although Kidmans accent still comes through.
Foreign actors that can deliver standout performances in an American accent are the real MVPs tbh. They’re acting on two separate levels. They need to temporarily recondition their brain to not speak like it normally does, they need to remember their lines, they need to focus on their action, they need to be aware of their marks, and they also need to deliver emotion. It’s a WHOLE other game when you’re British, Aussie, New Zealander, etc and acting American. It really proves who has chops or not.
I still think there’s something about Katherine’s face that I’ve yet to be able to decipher. Her face has instances of brilliance where for a second or a minute you absolutely get where she’s going, but then she loses it. On the other hand every photoshoot that has passed my dash makes her look incredible. That’s why I really think she has a face for stills and not moving pictures. Her microexpressions are better conveyed as frozen moments than dynamic moments. She’s not a bad actress by any means, she just has an issue with her face a lot of the time. That’s where I’m conflicted with her.
When it comes to Ruth, I haven’t watched The Affair yet but god if she wasn’t my favorite part of Luther. Luther was incredible overall and Idris murders that role and so does every other supporting actor, but the reason why Alice is such a fascinating character is because of Ruth. Any other actress who wouldn’t have known how to play the layered kind of psychopath would’ve just delivered one-dimensional and wooden, but not Ruth. She does a lot of acting and emoting with her eyes and it’s fucking mesmerizing to watch.
I’ve never seen Margo in anything but I think Nicole is a shit actor. I’ve never watched anything she’s in where I don’t just see her spitting out lines. When not even Kubrick can get a performance out of you, you know you’re in trouble. I’ve heard BLL might be her ONE good performance so far and once I manage to pry myself from Tumblr Chat I’ll be able to go see if that’s true.
That's how I felt about Reese & Nicole. They were just playing themselves. I really don't think it was a stretch for either of them especially Reese. Let's not forget her best performance as drunken passenger being pulled over with her drunken husband driving & Reese yelling at the police officer, 'Don't you know who I am??!' People seem to have forgotten about her ego trying to drunkenly get her & her husband out of being arrested. (They were still arrested) And Nicole...oh Nicole.
There was maybe a LITTLE more asked for Nicole for that role, but Reese showed up to set to stand on marks and say lines. That was her with a different name, but again...it worked for the show so hey, more power to her for getting roles that don’t require much from her. How did Nicole manage to play herself and still be flat? It’s like...a reverse skill. The show didn’t suffer from any of their performances because it can’t be that difficult to not fuck up playing yourself, but people can’t say they were great in it because being those characters didn’t require much talent from either of them.
