The "Nkoyo" dress makes an International Return!
In its newly re-designed "African Gallery" section, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts: one of the leading comprehensive fine-art museums in the U.S; opens its doors to a new exhibition titled "Africa Now: Fashioning Personhood". The exhibition features a group of talented artists "working in a full range of media including: sculpture, painting, photography, video and fashion".
Nigerian Fashion Designer Ituen Basi's "Nkoyo" dress from her "Ankara and Beads" collection which she first debuted in 2009 is featured as part of a collation of innovative contemporary works that "highlights the international reach of the African Continent and the rich exchange of African creativity with global cultures, periods and styles".
We couldn't agree more! The Nkoyo dress with its fluidity, colors, fun and witty elements doesn't only fit in perfectly, but stands out!
For those in the Minneapolis area, or visiting soon and willing to take in a bit of Africa, be sure to visit and please send us photos if you do :)
