Nah, I don’t think so. I’m sure it was planned out from the beginning, knowing her, and I don’t think FMA is the type of manga that’s heavily influenced by fan demand... Plus, those sorts of things happen in every fandom.
Also, idk about Japan, but from what I remember turning characters into homunculi was mostly popular in regards to the 2003 anime, and it was mainly the Pride!Ed from that one ending from Bluebird’s Illusion.
