Hello again. Another song suggestion but something quite different from my previous ones which is Keep Slipping Away by A Place To Bury Strangers.
To me it fits with the Dark Justiciar path/AU and that idea of 'what if Serena and Shadowheart couldn't make it work'. Serena watching Shadowheart pull away and the futility of her attempts to stop it while Sharran zealotry takes her place in Shadowheart's heart and mind along with the regret that fosters following the end of their adventures.

Firstly- I love the song!! I didn’t expect it to be upbeat/fast paced as it was (the scenario you laid out had me anticipating a slow sorrowful ballad I think 😅- but this was a pleasant surprise!!)
Onto the lyrics!!! Because wow, in the context you gave, they hurt so good 🥹💕

This is the most Serena sentiment in existence, but “I hold on tight and try to convince you to stay” kills me 😭
I can see the splintering of their relationship so perfectly. Serena seeing the changes in her, clinging to the last vestiges of the woman she loved, because she’s gone now.
“You don’t remember me.”
That’s the line that really stings. Imagine Shar decides Shadowheart’s lingering memories of Serena are a hindrance to her performance? So she wipes her away?
Imagine the fucking heartbreak Serena endures when she finally runs into her beloved Shadowheart again and she doesn’t even recognize her???? 🥺 yknow….i think the most romantic (or pathetic- your choice) thing about her is that she’d still fucking try if she knew Shadowheart wanted to change- even the tiniest part of her. Even if Shadowheart wants nothing to do with her, personally. She just….wants good things for her, always.

Finally got around to reading the latest chapter of a beautiful weapon and I have to say it was fantastic.
Now I have a few recommendations for music. Last time I recommend "Don't speak her name" and I keeping with soundtracks from the Fire Emblem franchise I suggest "Roar of Dominion (Rain)" from Fire Emblem Three Houses and "Twilight of the Gods" from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Fire emblem with the beautiful grand orchestral bangers again, I guess?! These first two were absolutely heavy and cinematic, perfect for the fight/escape sequences! But just so cool overall. It’s probably the metalhead in me, but I’m a sucker for heavy main/battle themes that carry all the momentum (like Gears 3 randomly comes to mind), so these were very easy to like 😅 Roar of Dominion seems more classically composed but I liked the frenzied feel of Twilight of the Gods, too!
Both of them are great for writing, I love writing sequences to music (especially if it’s instrumental as I’ve mentioned)!!
I’m so happy I now recognize persona 3 😄 this last track was so beautiful and calming. The title felt apropos too!! It’s sweet and perfectly kinda captures the calm after the storm feeling. (And I recognized Aigis this time!! 😃)

Omg I LOVE orchestral pieces for film/TV/games!!! I can’t really write to music that has lyrics (I listen to get in a headspace but not when I write) but these kinds of pieces are GREAT writing companions 🥰😄

I see what you mean about the song being applicable to a wide range of Shads fics haha, the general theme of “overcoming” just fits their journey!
I think certain lyrics like “maybe you’re right, when you said the pain weathers in time” and the “we don’t always get what we want” are so Shadowheart coded! Reminds me of her learning to live with the curse/losing her parents, but moving on with her life all the same.
But like I said, the vibe was hopeful and sweet 🥰 I think it also works for what they’re going through in ABW rn- Shar might try to chip away at their foundation but it’s nothing they can’t repair.

Hiii, bring some songs too, I confess that I'm a spectator most of the time here, so I saw some DJ!Shadowheart scenarios and I don't know but Bad Omens' ''Just Pretend'' really brings Serena's vision of it and it's so painful, I listen to it on repeat day and night until my eardrums stop working. Another is by the singer Xana Morris, ''Alibi'', which for me is Serena (and maybe Shads) right in the beginning of the story. And ''Need my Girl'' which for me fits the current situation of Shads looking for her.
