[Earnest post alert] Hi tumblr: you may remember me from my time acting in Nothing Much To Do and Lovely Little Losers. (if you don't know what that means don't worry, and if you did know but didn't know I was on tumblr, now you do!) I just wanted to tell you all that I've co-written a play with @balmoras, and I also act in it. The reason I'm posting about this on tumblr is because it's literally fanfic we put on stage. This play would literally not exist without tumblr and my misspent youth here. It's about the four bad kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stuck in a house together dealing with their childhood trauma 15 years on (I play Augustus Gloop). There's shipping, angst and found family.

Waiting for Wonka is performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the Gilded Balloon Patter House 5th-16th August, 11:40-12:40, and you can get tickets at the link below. I know that many of you won't be at Edinburgh Fringe but if you are, please come and see us (or tell your friends who WILL be there, or come up for a day or two if you're able!) and you can always donate to our Ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/halftrick) to maybe help us get it to other places in the future. full offence to Anyone But You but the perfect, modern Much Ado About Nothing adaptation already existed and it was made on YouTube by a bunch of New Zealand teenagers in 2014. Does Glen Powell sit in a bathtub and drunkenly complain about Beatrice calling him 'Pedro's bitch' during a party while dressed in a knockoff Batman costume? No? Then get it away from me. Nothing Much To Do supremacy.

do you ever just think how we witnessed a whole new genre come into existence (and then die again)? webseries as told via vlogs and transmedia postings, especially the literary inspired ones, were so unique in their way of storytelling. truly influenced by a bunch of people who have shipped their favorite vloggers and were like, what if that, but safer, because it's going to be fictional characters and the shipping is intended? truly influenced by a bunch of queer teens and young adults who started to realize they were allowed to tell their favorite stories in a way that includes them. a genre that figured out its own rules and limitations as it grew. a genre that blurred the lines between creators and fandoms because once you realize that anyone can do it, what's stopping you from giving new life to a thing you already love? we watched this genre from its first clumsy steps, to bold new professionalism. We watched anything from a bunch of college students with zero budget and someone's parents' house, to fully formed productions with financial backing and actors. We watched academic writing emerge on all of this. We watched our favorite shows get attention outside of the small fandom bubbles, win prizes, get into newspapers. and all of it was out there for free, most of it still is, made by some of the most creative people you have ever met, with so much love and passion it's impossible to even measure it. a whole new genre that existed in such a specific window in time, becoming a permanent part of internet history. damn, I'm still emotional over it.

I need people to watch Nothing Much to Do and Lovely Little Losers webseries on youtube. I need people to understand the impact these silly little shows have had on my brain for the last ~6 years. I need people to know why I occasionaly randomly go 'engage your diaphragm' in a bad New Zealand accent during gay confession scenes. So anyway here's a pitch of why you should watch them:

Modern webseries adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing (the best Shakespeare play and you can fight me on that) set as a vlog series by a group of high schoolers in New Zealand

Any itteration of Beatrice/Benedick is one of the best romances ever and this is no exception

One of the most infuriatingly good cases of mutal mlm pining

It doesn't feel scripted like other webseries of its genere (I might be the worlds leading expert on literary webseries adaptations)

The sequel series Lovely Little Losers is loosely based on Love's Labours Lost and follows the main cast going to university and experiencing student shenanigans.

The two series were filmed from 2014-16 so they are deeply entrenched in Superwholock fandom and if you are reading this then I know you were too.

They are running a 10 year aniversary 'Dracula Daily' style rerelease of Nothing Much to Do where you get emailed videos and/or multimedia content on the day corresponding to when it was orignally posted
