nnellowdrama replied to your post: “what it’s like to work at Einstein’s Bagels”:
lmao what einsteins do you work at and also im so sorry
i used to work at 2 locations, one closed due to fire damage, and then the 2nd closed due to the dipshits didn’t wanna pay the lease or whatever. it was a terrible experience b/c i was constantly talked down to and yelled at by the perpetually irate & diabetic supervisor, i only point out his diabetes b/c it kept him from doing or seeing anything, he had such bad eyesight that one time he accused me of just standing around doing nothing when i was taking a customer’s order. Einstein Brothers is a hellhole and any employee working there is stronger than any us marine.

Tonight has been pretty excellent! @pontmarius @nnellowdrama and I got to hang out and go see a play which was fabulous! Now I just need to eat some food, critique the play for my theatre class, and then sleep because even with a nap this afternoon, I’m still low key exhausted.
another question: is adhd ever genetic? my little brother has adhd (diagnosed), my dad has a lot of adhd symptoms, and i'm self-diagnosed. also, my brother is currently unmedicated and has been for several years, because the medicine he was taking (i think straterra?) caused him to develop facial ticks (mouth clicking, nose scrunching, etc). the ticks have calmed down a little bit over time, but it's made my mom scared of getting either of us meds. has anyone else out there developed ticks (1/2)
(2/2) because of straterra or is it just a random reaction? my mom now seems bent on some kinda “holistic” approach to treating this; any advice on how to convince her that not all adhd meds will cause side effects like that? (sorry this turned into so many questions!!!!! )
Okay, so: Yes, ADHD is highly heritable, meaning that there is a strong genetic component (but it’s not just genetics because identical twins aren’t always both ADHDers). So if you have family members who have ADHD, you are more likely to have it as well, but it’s not a given, even if both of your parents have it. (I know, weird!)
To my knowledge, stimulant medication is more likely to be associated with tics, but it’s also not necessarily a factor. We just added a page on Tourette syndrome to our FAQ, which even if your brother hasn’t been diagnosed with Tourette could be really helpful to look at since tic disorders (which Tourette is one) overlap with ADHD. The page gets into more detail on this.

nnellowdrama replied to your post: i want… more posters. who’s an artist who’s got...
how big of posters…..
the bigger the better honestly. i’ve got one of those lit posters up - i have the hamlet one - and then a couple 6x8s/8x10s/10x18s, things around that size, a FUCKload of postcard-sized prints... i need a couple more bigger statement pieces.
