Vibecheck: is it a form of s3lf harm to watch upsetting movies in order to feel something?
Watched Grave of the Fireflies for the first time all the way through in years and then The Substance before I went to bed. They definitely made me feel things but for the first time I'm worried if these fantastic movies are actually bad for my mental health.
I feel suffocated and disassociated with too many feel-good or fandom things I watch in order to escape from my crumbling world where you have to hate one person in order to support another and where my president is speedrunning all the corruption he can muster. Not even our wild animals are safe anymore with all the service workers being expelled.
I've burned a total of four bridges this last year with people online/irl and I'm worried I'm just going to hurt everyone around me. I hurt people even if I don't want to. No, knowing that I do or feeling bad that I do doesn't make me feel any better. I need cinema in order to feel
