I don't really celebrate Easter. Haven't since I was a kid. And even then only cuz my grandparents made a big deal of it. And Easter egg hunts and dying eggs is fun.
But I do like hiding Easter eggs for my dogs. It's good enrichment for them. They enjoy it. It's cute.
Regular plastic easter eggs were fine for layla. She could crack them open without damaging them. No risk of swallowing little shards of plastic trying to get to the treat. We could easily reuse them every year.
They break apart those plastic eggs like they're NOTHING. Thankfully don't just like. Crumble or anything. But they get holes from teeth in them pretty fast. And they have to be thrown out after only one or two uses.
And I figured since dog easter egg hunts have gotten more popular in recent years that maybe someone had created some doggy easter eggs made of more doggy safe and sturdy materials.
And I looked into biodegradable Easter eggs to at least combat the amount of plastic waste im creating
But theyre kind of expensive and there's still the issue of durability
I do have some balls with holes in them (chewby plays with them until she gets a hole in them and then loses interest) so I *could* just put treats in the balls and hide them around the yard. But it takes longer for them to get the treats out and I worry they'd lose interest. Layla wouldn't have but she was extremely food motivated. Val is not. But she does like to sniff....chewby is 50/50. It also loses some of the whimsy without the eggs but that's more for me than it is for them.
