Jane appeared to take a moment to register the scene inside before her face contorted with anger, and she took another step into the room, training her pistol on Jackie as she did.
“Now I know why I couldn’t quite place you,” Jane said. “You’ve changed.”
“Whereas you haven’t changed at all,” Jackie said, her voice cool and level. “Granted, the last time I saw you, you were just a plain Jane. That was before this diamond business, before you got rich and tried to get respectable. You may have acquired a new coat of paint since then, but underneath, you’re still the same rotten crook I knew back in Verkell.”

The week has once again completed its cyclical path, and returned, as it is wont to do, to Sunday. Which can only mean one thing! Time for another Highlighted M:EMory!
This week, let’s take a look at: “The Eightfold Lotus,” by RuwinReborn.
“The Eightfold Lotus” was originally posted on June 4th, 2014. It serves as an introduction to two fascinating M:EM characters, Jinsen, and Kimberley Talon. It tells the story of a years-long search, a search that spans several planes, and the stories of several different people, all to learn the truth behind the mysterious man known as the Eightfold Lotus.

Sometimes people ask me where to start in the Magic: Expanded Multiverse. This is a VERY good place to start, I’d say.
Jakkard is riddled with stories. Pick up any of the Verkell papers, and you’ll be treated to tales of bank heists, scheming tycoons, and Wasteward expansion. Wander into any boomtown saloon, and you’ll be regaled with rumors about a big luxite strike just over the next hill, or a new railroad spur that’s bound to triple your gold before the ink is even dry on your signature.
Some of these stories are doomed to fade away, like so much dust on the wind.
Others are destined to grow into legends.
Legends like the shadowy man, wreathed in smoke, who brought a city to its knees. Legends like the black-hatted woman, with eyes the color of blood, who came back from the dead. Legends like the lone centaur, with a rifle in his hand, and a weight upon his soul.
In our first Expanded Multiverse serial, we’ll recount the stories that made these denizens of Jakkard into legends.
So take a seat by the trail fire, and I’ll tell you a tale…
