The most expensive of the lots, this Curry Chicken Potato & Mushroom Bun (S$2.90) has the spicy kick but with too finely chopped up filling. If only the ingredients are chunkier, it would have offered the texture contrast to the soft bun.
This morning’s Black Sesame & Brown Sugar Mantou (S$2) had coarsely grounded black sesame seeds rolled into it and sprinkled on top. As you bite into it, the fragrant of the sesame immediately filled the mouth followed by the subtle perfume and sweetness of the brown sugar. Yummy…
Next, the fluffy red and white Coconut Bun (S$1.90) is filled with shredded coconut fried in gula melaka (palm sugar). As this is supposed to be a healthy version of a bun so the fragranced coconut was not overly sweetened.
Straight from the fridge to the wok for a 15 minutes steam bath and this Seaweed & Chicken Floss Mantou (S$2) is ready for consumption. The soft fluffy bun hits all the right spots with the savoury floss and the umami flavours of the nori. Both sis and I shared the same opinion that there should be more of the chicken floss as the filling was miserable scant.
Likewise, fresh from the hot steaming wok, the Durian Bun (S$2.50) had fluffed up and spotted a glossy look. Tearing the black and yellow bun open revealed a filling of durian puree. Although the unmistakable fragrant of the king of fruits had muted a little due to the heat, I can still detect the unadulterated texture and taste of it. If you enjoy durian, grab this at Just Dough!
Stuck at home with nowhere to go, so let the fingers do the walking and ordered some Buns & Mantous online from Just Dough. Their handmade buns and mantous are produced daily without artificial colouring, no added preservative, using less sugar and oil.
The colourful skin of the Buns & Mantous are made from freshly squeezed vegetable juice and natural ingredients such as carrot, spinach, tomato, black sesame, red yeast rice, wholemeal etc… Even the fillings inside are made in-house in their own central kitchen.
