Are You and Your Home Summer Ready?: Week 7
Time for Summer Not Termites
1 Goodbye Winter Update your space with lighter, brighter accessories. Get rid of anything that evokes heat – fire logs, heavy rugs and draperies, heaters, and thick blankets. Replace candles with fresh cut flowers and trade in your winter mats with lightweight white ones. Winter will be out of sight and out of mind. 2 Popsicle and Ice Cream Time Empty your freezer and defrost it completely. Do an inspection of what’s in there – certain products lose texture and flavor over time, so chuck out anything that’s been in there over a year (less time for leftovers, ground meats and chicken). With the extra freezer space, you can be stocked up on ice pops and burgers. 3 Let’s Get Ready to PAAAARRRTTTYYYY Be the boss of patio parties and outdoor entertaining. Spruce it up with new patio furniture or small details. Make sure your blender and grill are fired up because it is margarita and cook out time. Invest in accident-proof dishware from serving trays to drinking glasses. 4 Take a Deep Breath Ensure a cool, cool summer – not to mention a lower energy bill – with a few simple air-flow updates. Turn your ceiling fan to counter-clockwise (the blades are tilted upward) to push air downward and create a stronger draft. Have your air ducts cleaned by Universal Duct Cleaning to ensure the purest of air quality.
5 Who’s Ready to Paint Summer is the perfect time for a colorful project. Update your deck, door, trim, picnic table or chairs with a fresh coat of paint or a bright color. Sand the wood of its existing paint and then coat with a primer. When fully dry, paint with a durable exterior paint. 6 Summer Essentials Stock up on the essentials. Fill your cabinets with sun block, aloe and insect repellant. In your linen closet, store picnic blankets and fresh and fluffy beach towels. In the pantry, keep a picnic basket and your outdoor flatware ready to go. Fill the garage with backyard sports items everyone will love.
7 Invite Summer In and the Pests Out
Spring and Summer can fly by. But when you find out you have termites living in your home, it can feel like forever. Invite Universal Pest & Termite in to make it a pest free summer. All you will have to worry about is what beach you will go to next!
