Why is everyone so freaked out about not having a trailer? I already learned to live without it.
I'm more concerned about the fact that they don't even talk about the series finale.
They are already in Grogu mode or Proof mode, they have moved on and it's like they don't care that the show is over, no emotional farewell words, no nostalgia, emotionally and otherwise they are not there anymore. They act as if they just don't care because they have other and better new stuff going on. I mean you can totally move on, appreciate the new places your career is going, honor and promote the projects you're currently working on, and still be gracious about what you're leaving behind, if only for your fans. But it's a conscious choice not to, and I guess I can live with that too.
It's a lil bit of a slap in the face, ngl, but hey! 2 can play that game. I'm moving on too. No big deal. Let's keep it profesh. Down to biz, easy, quick and outta here in a few weeks. Checked, checked, checked aaaand checked!
As fans we gotta understand that for them it's just work, we are just work and yes, sometimes that overlaps with an emotional component too, sure, but that component is only supposed to be exploited when they are told to. Business. Some play that game better than others, some go rogue sometimes and don't follow those instructions, but the rules of the game are the same for everyone.
In this case, for instance, JAW was clearly instructed to keep it "personal to show his family man side" and to elaborate on the Star Wars movie that's not doing well at all in theaters, not even name dropping Pedro Pascal caused commotion, I mean it's THAT BAD for such a household name kinda franchise... And that's it. He was told to mention The Social Ntw, and not really engage with The Bear fans at all, because we don't matter at this point, we are no longer needed. We are being taken for granted. That's the part I disagree with, and not because of any sentimentalism, but because even if we just keep our heads cool and focus exclusively on business, THIS IS CLEARLY THE WRONG APPROACH, because we are their customers and this is not the best customer experience, what they're providing. It would generate a lot more revenue to keep the fandom well fed and engaged and pleased, at least till S5 premieres. But anyway... maybe Disney/FX have also moved on and they don't care how much $ The Bear produces at this point either, and the cast knows it and so the whole vibe is fucked because they were told "you do you, cash your check and see you later when you start bringing in the big bucks again, The Bear hasn't really been doing so lately, so we don't care about you anymore, but let's keep it professional enough till the show ends this year, no hard feelings, later alligator."
Like I said, 2 can play that game. IK that when something or someone is disappointing, to emotionally disengage right away is the best course of action to take. I get it, business are business and that's what we are for them, let's repay them accodingly and get over with this ASAP.
That been said, I think we are getting a late trailer closer to the B day and I also think this season is gonna do better than S4, never as well as the first 2 seasons, ofc. Because we are all eager for this to end, that was the vibe in the SM comments when S5, being the final one, was announced. So, they knew all along that the audiences have moved on already, that they fucked up with the "season of STUCKNESS", as Landgraf called it, that was the wrongest game plan ever and they greenlit it back then, so they are responsible for this, they don't wanna take accountability, they rather flee like cowards and keep their eyes on the next best thing, whatever that may be.
OK, let's go with it. IK I will. No problem. I do me and keep my own eyes on the ball. My ball is Sydcarmy. And to that point I wanna reiterate what I said a few weeks ago: Maybe Storer finally decided to do some fan service and spoiling it in a trailer would be like literally spoiling the series finale.
They are applying an UNO reverse and so they decided that we’re not getting the trailer to generate more expectation and because they don’t wanna give away Sydcarmy endgame being finally ON THE TABLE and it’s not like they have anything else this season. Other than the restaurant still being in business, Carmy not retiring, which they did spoil and Richie being safe and sound, which they spoiled too. Which would mean that all eps are Sydcarmy centered leading to them ending up ROMANTICALLY TOGETHER, which obvs they don't wanna give away now because they have been too busy gasliting us, truthers, for almost 5 years now. So they don’t wanna spoil the whole season with a trailer that's gonna ruin that surprise. The teasers they dropped so far do show that they all end up together and happy like a big functional family-family. Perhaps the only part they're leaving out of those teasers is the "romantic one" for a reason, of course... They're delaying it as much as humanly possible and surely when it drops it’s gonna last like 10 secs, and obvs it will be totally Sydcarmyless, which would be a bluff. And I'm calling it rn, as a matter of fact I have been calling them on their bluff for the past weeks even before the teasers came out. Nothing's changed for me. Business are business, this is gonna be over in 5 minutes, I'm mentally prepared since last year, looks a lot like I won and they are just applying reverse psychology (awfully btw) and that's it. That's all I could expect from them, I was disappointed and burned before by them, so this is level 1 for me. I've got this. I hope we can all do the same so the moving on part is seemless and nonchalant, like it clearly is for them.
Explicit Sydcarmy endgame is all that matters and it's about to be served.
Life goes on and it's OK. Let's follow their lead and move on too, keeping our heart chakras completely uncompromised as if this was just a mind game.
Cool. Done.
