There is a Light That Never Goes Out, Chapter 2, "Never Together"

The idea seems bizarre and in the peak of stress Eden just snorts in a choked laugh. Gortash tips his head to the side yet again and steps closer, distance between them shrinking at an alarming rate. Eden flinches when he puts his hands next to both sides of her head, leaning against the door. Now he’s so close she can perfectly see little scars and wrinkles, she could count them if she wished to. A breath gets stuck in her throat, eyes widening as he almost brushes his nose against hers with a small smile tugging at his lip.

“We were always together ever since.”
