Decisions from our 3/3/2015 meeting
At our meeting on Tuesday 3 March 2015:
We elected James Doran as our convenor after Alex Brooke stepped down from the role. We thanked Alex for his contribution to TPA’s work
We agreed to hold an annual general meeting, at which all roles within TPA will be open for election, in June or July
We reaffirmed our solidarity with Unite Community’s #No2sanctions national day of action against benefit sanctions and will support the actions planned for Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Stockton on 19 March
We reviewed our involvement in #LoveNHS actions in Hartlepool and Darlington on 14 February and Saltburn on 19 February and we agreed to congratulate the Save Our Hartlepool Hospital, 999 Call for the NHS and 4 People Not Profit groups on their success
We discussed the 999 Convention for the NHS, held on 28 February, and looked forward to the publication of details on the outcome of the event
We discussed progress on our plans for an action against NHS privatisation and a post-election public event
We congratulated Newcastle Unites for its organisation of the anti-Pegida demo on 28 February and Teesside against Racism, Islamophobia and Fascism for ensuring a strong presence from Teesside
We expressed solidarity with the Fast Food Rights campaign and agreed to support any local actions for its global day of action on 15 April
We discussed the implications of decisions made at recent national and regional meetings of the People’s Assembly movement
We agreed to explore the possibility of another regional gathering to share good practice between People’s Assembly branches
We reaffirmed our solidarity with the Fire Brigades Union’s continuing industrial action
We agreed to support any actions being organised to protest against local government cuts
We agreed to run a stall at the 4 People Not Profit festival in Saltburn on 5 September.
