Oooh ty so much let's get into Noah's world building.
So right off the bat the thing I'm really hyped about exploring is Taylor Doose's softer side and a bit of the Doose's family life.
We see in Face Off that Taylor is actually pretty bullied? by his brothers specially the older ones and that he tries incredibly hard not to let this bother him but it does and to please them despite it and that things that are important to Taylor are...not to the rest Doose clan.
With Noah and Noah's mom ( who I really need to freakin name) we get to see what it might look like when Taylor actually is fond someone when someone actually shows a shred of love to him.
Noah's mom was Taylor's favorite niece but more than that she was one of the few relatives to actually spend time with him, to listen about the history of the town and the things that were important to him and not really because she wanted anything in return but because he's her uncle and she was a kid and she loved him.
Flash forward to about 30 to 40 years ( the Doose strike me as somewhat traditional I can see their daughters marrying in their 20s) and we see Taylor drop Everything when she calls him in tears about Noah having to be admitted in-patient. Taylor most likely helps pay for the treatment. Taylor welcomes them into his home and is so tight lipped and downright tells Patty to stop asking questions when the rumor mill picks up everyone's whispering how it's the closest he's come to resembling Luke.
And like Taylor's still Taylor, still has weird ideas and says things like "well you don't want to rely too much on medication" and "you'll get out of this depression soon and get back on the ice" but we see him try for someone and what it looks like when it's someone he deeply cares about.
We also get to look at Dean's worse traits in re to his jealousy and what he views "for Rory's own good" and some of the mental health stigma from the 2000s (like Noah gets hostility from Dean because he's friends with Rory but it's also he feels Noah's "weird" and "off" and there's also the rumor mill of just why he dropped from a hockey program to go to school in stars Hollow High and now he's thinking "Rory's so nice she'd give anyone a chance" ( because that's how he thinks of her as someone who doesn't know better and needs him to protect her) but unlike Jess Noah is on a lot of Dean's classes and eventually joins the minute men and eventually is back on par ( and better than) with Dean on the ice so like Dean has a lot more opportunity to do the whole "I don't have to be nice to him/it's my town" shtick he tries with Jess. So we really get to see what Dean's worst jealousy traits and hostility look like with a target that stays and when he feels he can push around.
Also both excited and scared to tackle what inpatient looked like in the early aughts but I get to build up Noah's therapist and some of the friends he makes in iop ( Intensive Outpatient Program which he does after being released from in-patient)
And lastly what it might be like if Rory has a boyfriend who actually wants to get to know her friends and family and while they might not be twin flames like she and Jess were designed to be in re to teen mothers and books they definitely are in regards to being put on a pedestal and feeling like they can never crack ( Rory as the golden town child and Noah as the hockey prodigy of the Doose clan) and that's something neither Jess or Dean really see so I'm excited to explore.
Send me an oc and 🛠️ and i'll tell you an aspect of their series work building I'm excited to explore or build on with them.
Alternatively, send me a fandom and 🌎 and I'll talk about a world building fact I like or just really wanna play with in general
