The People of Detroit
Here's one for the haters.
I'm not a Detroiter, nor am I a big fan of the city or wish to live there in the future, but I'm also not a fan of misconceived perceptions and sensationalist sentiments. That's exactly what the city of Detroit is getting from the media right now.
You can't avoid the cold hard facts about Detroit, its high crime rate, the vast urban decay in much of suburban Detroit and the poverty which unfortunately plagues the city.
But then again, the media doesn't paint an accurate picture about the good side of Detroit, which could be full of kind hearted, hard working people just like anybody else.
Here's one example -
Unfortunately the view of Detroit is a city in which you'll get shot walking down the streets, in which people either live on the pavement, under bridges or in decaying boarded up homes. And a city which will only drag you down like all the other lowly murderers lurking the streets.
I've never been to Detroit, but 'The People of Detroit', a wonderful photo blog by Detroit-based photographer Noah Stephens should give you a look into what the people of Detroit are really like.
Because not everyone in Detroit is an abandoned building
