🎅 One muse still believes in Santa… how does the other handle it?

“do you actually?” 

rory damiani is the last person to be shaming noah ashbury for believing in santa claus — whether he’s a myth or a warning for parents to NOT have a chimney in their home that was easily accessible to some jovial holiday man from the north pole, rory grew up knowing that the presents under her tree were from santa. “i can’t believe you still believe in that kinda thing — do you believe in the tooth fairy too?” of course she’s teasing, that smile of hers is nearly as bright as the lights adorning every tree they passed by. it’s the only thing that lets the two of them see where they’re even going. 

the winter has always been her favourite, coming along with all the things she adores — hockey, warm sweaters, snow and christmas markets. the city of toronto hosts one every year and it’s been hours since they entered the venue and yet, rory continues to drag noah along with her. he didn’t seem to mind, not when rory had attempted to stop him from buying a whole kiosk of christmas ornaments. “haha — but i’m pretty sure you believe in him too.”

“at least i’m not like, thirty or something. it’s still okay for me. it’s not… weird.” the wind nearly knocks her over, wrinkling her nose as her hands get caught on his coat. “and listen… i am a CHILD; do you have any idea how many people are probably wondering if i’m your daughter right now?” 

“wait a minute. do i really look that old to you?” 

“but it’s true though… are you offended? i think you look good for someone who’s over thirty.” she laughs, playfully punching noah. “i think all those lady friends you have around with you all the time kinda proves that.” does she know them? not all of them but she’s sure they’re all lovely ; they must be if noah smiles and laughs like he does. 

“alright, rory. okay.” he says with a grin, leaves the kid wanting to smack it right off his face. “you’re so persistent sometimes, you know that?” 

yeah, so what? she knows it’s intolerable — “it’s christmas, noah. don’t ruin my mood or i’ll steal all your christmas ornaments and flush them down the toilet.” a threat like that warrants a look of surprise ; nothing that rory can blame him for, again. she nudges him, “isn’t the lights really pretty though? come on, i’ll buy you some gelato.”

Name: Vilma “ Ima ” Cassandra Poe ; named after both of their siblings ( Vilhelm & Cassidy ) 

Gender: Cis Female

General Appearance: With the same plump lips & porcelain pink skin, there’s no doubt that she and Oona are related. Though the resemblance is striking, there are a few things she inherited from her father, such as her strawberry blonde hair & height. 

Personality: Ima is far more outgoing & optimistic than either of her parents, always happy to meet new friends and willing to share. She also tends to take on a leadership role in her friend groups ( sometimes erring on a the side of tyrannical, but it comes from a good place ) However, she can tend to be a bit a prissy -- something Oona despises in her. 

Special Talents: Nope, she didn’t get her mother’s voice. In fact, she isn’t musically gifted at all. Her talent, although completely useless, can be quite entertaining --- juggling. Neither Austin or Oona are quite sure where she picked it up . . . but she’s quite skilled at it. 

Who they like better: She’s a daddy’s girl, through and through. Not to say she doesn’t love her mother … but she has a special bond with Austin that Oona doesn’t even attempt to compete with. 

Who they take after more: Austin. She is her father’s daughter, after all. 

Personal Head canon: Despite religious nature of both Austin & Oona, religion was never forced upon Ima. Oona wanted to make sure that their daughter had some choice in what she believed in.

Sherman was waiting for Luz to come back from the Country Club, sitting sideways in an armchair he had found in one of the offices. Lynda would be telling him to stop ruining chairs like that, and he missed her soft chiding.  He was looking up at the ceiling, lazily tossing a baseball up into the air and catching it again. There wasn’t much else to do in the evenings until people started going to bed. A couple more tosses of the ball, and then he felt a strange pounding noise shaking the floor. He sat up, and looked out the door, the noise resolving itself into a blur of someone running full speed past the door, was that Santiago? Then suddenly the doorway was filled with Noah, and the surprise of it almost tipped him out of his chair.

Noah grinned excitedly at him, closing the door and snatching the baseball up from where it had fallen on the carpet. He made the motion of shushing him and then sprawled across the couch on the other side of the coffee table, casually tossing the ball up into the air like he had been doing. Sherman looked at him quizzically, before picking up a book that he been meaning to read. Then the sound of running came again from the hall, and Sherman made the movement to look before he noticed Noah shaking his head. Settling back into his chair, he opened the book just as the door open and he looked up from around the back of the chair.

Rory was there, face red and flushed, looking pissed. “Okay who did it?” 

Sherman had no idea what she was talking about, so he looked over to Noah was was looking back at him and copying his facial expressions. Rory let out a small shriek at them before slamming the door close again. Noah burst out into low giggles as he could hear a loud yelp from down the hall, no doubt Santi being caught for whatever prank the pair had pulled.

“Thanks, man, for the cover.” Noah was already up and recovered from his giggle fit. He plopped the baseball into his chest, leaving Sherman no choice but to catch it with both hands, leaving him defenseless against the hair ruffle. Noah grinned.

“What hair products do you use? I need to get me some.”

Then he was out the door and Sherman was throwing up a playful middle finger, and Noah’s echoing laugh could be heard in the hall.

“Are you eating properly? You don’t look it.”

gaze flickering towards the boy next to her, the brunette swallowed. was it really that obvious that she hadn’t ate in the past few days? surely she looked just as normal as she always did. then again, no one ever exactly pointed it out to her, if she did, so his words left her in a bit of shock. this was a first anyone ever asked brinley this question. no one ever really expressed concern for her, so the gentle yet caring voice left her silent. it made her almost uncomfortable, thinking that someone could possibly care about her well being. that’s not how this world worked, not anymore. her features deepened into that of a frown for a moment as she was lost in her thoughts.

it only took a few seconds for the brunette to realize that she’d kept the boy waiting for an answer. shaking her head, she blinked away the unfriendly thoughts, placing a merely fakeweak smile to her lips. “of course i have..why wouldn’t i be? don’t wanna starve myself..” lying was always one of her talents now a days. it got her out of almost everything, and she was silently hoping it’d get her out of this one. she hadn’t known the boy long, and it was confusing to the woman as to why he’d care.

rory sighs in frustration, a hand tucking away a wandering strand of hair with nothing more but a glance up at noah — she isn’t happy, neither of them are. the source of her trouble isn’t the fact that another violent mishap’s written into her records, it isn’t the blood on her shirt whether it be hers or someone else’s entirely. no, it’s NONE of those… what’s upsetting her is the fact that out of all the teachers who could be berating her right now? it happens to be mr. ashbury. his classroom used to be where she did her work after school hours, his advice used to be what she listened to and followed — now everything’s weird and rory’s not too sure if being here is right. 

she should’ve been mindful of where she started the brawl. eyes that lost their glimmer at the sound of his voice narrows, wanders to the door — and she’s planning on how to escape this little conversation but she can’t… rory is far too angry to get out of here without saying a word to him. violence is discouraged but not prohibited, my ass. 

“fucking your students is both discouraged and prohibited, but clearly not practiced.” would this land her in detention? a suspension? at this point, WHO CARES — she doesn’t. the rumours that certain teachers were nailing their students against closed classroom doors are just that… sparks of gossip whispered among students who were either too bored or too interested. no one tells rory anything because she’s NOISY but what she can be is an eavesdropper. “just say it, sir. you’re disappointed and you wish that i was a better student outside the classroom as well as inside the classroom.” she rolls her eyes, lets the bite of her words linger in glares.

she stands up straight and just like that, she’s talking to him casually. “if you got nothing else to say, sir — i’m gonna go. i wouldn’t want to be holding you back from… extracurricular activities you might be doing… or supervising.” rory gives him a little smile; she isn’t apologizing for the crude remarks. he let her down, wouldn’t it be a little fair that she let him down too? “it was nice talking to you again, mr. ashbury.” and she walks out the door, not guilty, but smug.
