how have jaspers relationships with the spacekru changed over the six years ?

SO BASICALLY IT’S THE OPPOSITE OF THE OTHER SPACEKRU MEMEBERS. Jasper begins with destroyed friendships. He’s separated from Raven, hasn’t seen her in literally weeks, she left to save the world and Jasper left to die and live his best life. Murphy and Jasper’s only interaction was murphy wanting to KILL Jasper and then KIDNAPPING him, so obviously there’s a little bad blood there. Echo is azgeda and Jasper’s only interaction with Azgeda was a cool BLADE cutting his throat, even if Jasper secretly wanted it. Emori is just another grounder, Jasper hates grounders even if it’s very mild now due to all the alcohol drugs and nihliism. Bellamy and Jasper are close, but there’s still some space between them after Jasper isolated himself in S3 and S4, a part of Jasper will always hold resentment to Bellamy for mass murdering the mountain men, resulting in the BRUTAL death of Maya, his first and only love. 

And then we have Monty, who I could rant about forever and Jonty’s relationship. But they’re broken. Jasper and Monty will always love each other, no matter how much shit comes between them, that’s what drove Jasper away the most - - is that he could never truly hate monty even if he tried. 

To conclude what I said, Jasper’s relationships are broken. But now he has 6 years to lean on them, to build up his friendships stronger than ever. To help Raven with her leg, help her with landing the ring back on earth. He can sympthaize with Bellamy about the Earth, about those who have been lost, to show Bellamy that he’s strong, and that he’s done good. He’ll stay with Monty and help the farms, to remind Monty that he’s alive because of him - - that he’s a life-saver and he admires that. He’ll be with Echo for training, to overcome his hatred and distaste for Azgeda, to bond with someone who’s experienced isolation from her own people. Jasper and Murphy will get over their bad blood, and be sarcastic kings and Jasper helps him with his insecurity - - Jasper knows what it’s like to be useless. Well, Emori, I have no clue to be honest.

She was perched on his front porch, debating bothering him this late or not, and while she didn’t want to bug him, her only other option was going back to the Colonna’s and she was not going back there for a while. So as a compromise, she text him instead.

1/29 Goodbye and Onward Toward Our Noble Deaths

This depiction of a Japanese prostitute with an American soldier followed by her renouncing all ties to her father was really sad. Especially because I'm sure this was a very real situation for many Japanese women in the post war era. The shame and anger of her father (Japan)'s defeat in the war is very obvious. Also the way in which he speaks properly to her but in broken and odd English towards the soldier seems to suggest the inherent awkwardness of the US occupation after Japan's defeat. Japanese women were essentially forced into sex work and the soldiers that remained were constantly trying to reestablish themselves in Japanese society next to the American soldiers who had killed their fellow brethren in battle. It's no shock whatsoever that post war Japan had a lot of social instability.

This manga was very narrative-esque in the way that all the details are very vivid, only someone who had experienced this firsthand would truly know this nitty gritty details. I researched it a bit more and the author was a soldier during World War 2 and many of the events he described he specifically lived through. The enduring theme in this manga is that death was better than the shame of surviving. At one point one of the generals is beside himself upset that he survived and theres constant mentioning of a suicide march. Obviously knowing the outcome, for many Japanese soldiers the war was a suicide march but this thought alone seems to suggest that Japan inherently felt that they were going to lose regardless. One of the comments always brought up in regard to military incursion of Japan is that due to the 200+ years of seikoku, Japan was inherently developmentally behind in the global sphere. This seems to be hinted at when an air raid is announced and a soldier grabs a sword. There is no way that would have done ANYTHING whatsoever but in a time of crisis that knee-jerk reaction to defend oneself manifested in that action instead of grabbing a gun which likely wouldn't have done much either but is definitely more practical.

risking certain death of the common cold and probably getting stabbed in the stomach due to a minor argument in the medival era is worth it if i can give the cute milk maid a crown of daisies

how often did jasper think of maya while in space ? has he gotten over her in the 5 years or does it still hurt to think of her ?

When he first arrived in space he would have thought about her a lot. Thinking how he wished she could see this, how she wished she could be there with him and seeing the stars she only dreamed of, and how he could watch her on her first moonwalk, etc. With time,probably a couple of years later,  it got easier. She was more of an after thought, but not in a forgotten way. She was the thought he’d have when he was sat in the way window watching Earth turn when he can’t sleep. The person he would think of when he cannot sleep and he pulls a memory to ease his mind. When he needed a reason to smile he would think of how she laughed or the way she smiled as they listened to her iPod together. I think there is still sadness in his smile when he thinks of her, but he refuses to let her die. He has moved on, but she is not forgotten. She was his friend, a love, and to him she will always be part of his life.
