You’re back!
Weregaruru-senpai! I am, kind of! At least hoping to get back! I’ve been missing Digimon and the whole community and hope to watch tri. ASAP so I can come back (and fangirl about yet ANOTHER Adventure series?!?!) <3

Welcome back! Mental health can be a massive struggle, especially when it's on top of other things (which it almost always is). Hope you're getting to a better place :)
Thank you! And yes, the past year or so has been a wild ride! Not in my best place right now, but trying my best to get out of my dark cave, heheh. ;)

Oie!
Hi @noctilucentstorm ! I’m your secret santa! @secretsantamon
I actually have to thank you for your prompt. I had read the Golden Compass like 10 years ago and totally forgot I hadn’t read the rest of the series! So as soon as I found out I got you, I started to read the series again. And oh man, I don’t think I appreciated this series as much as I should have. I just finished the Subtle Knife, and I can’t wait to read the third book now.
I decided to draw a crossover scene, “what if Will cut into the digital world with the subtle knife?” and then I ended up writing a small fic to go with it. I’m by no means a writer, so just a fair warning haha. I hope you enjoy! I had a lot of fun with it! These 2 series lend themselves so well to a crossover.
Happy Holidays!

Will reached out and moved his fingertips slowly in deep concentration. This way and that way, ever so slightly. He felt a strange and curious vibration, then a snag. Subtle knife in hand, he skillfully slid the blade across the sky and peeked inside. What strange vegetation! Between the foliage, he could make out street signs. Will was perplexed: there were no vehicles, so there was no need for those. He continued to sweep this new world and spotted a refrigerator in the distance.
“What do you see?” Lyra said impatiently.
“As far as I can tell, it looks like a forest,” Will replied. “It seems safe. I think we can go through here.”
Will cut open a larger window so that he and Lyra could climb through more easily.
Once through, Will headed toward the refrigerator, stomach rumbling. It had been a while since he and Lyra had eaten, and while it made little sense for an appliance to be functioning in the middle of a forest, he just had to look inside. He opened it, and to his surprise, the inside light switched on and revealed cartons upon cartons of eggs.
Will gasped. “Oh, this is incredible.”
“Shh,” Lyra heard voices in the distance. Will had been distracted with the thought of eating and had not noticed they were not alone.
Lyra grabbed Will’s hand and lead him over to a nearby bush. With cover, they could take some time to assess the strangers and see if they were a threat.
People also had daemons in this world, Lyra observed. However, they were unlike any other daemons she had ever seen in her world. They were animal-like, but you really couldn’t call them animals. Perhaps the animals in this world looked like the children’s daemons, and maybe it wasn’t that strange at all to them. And if that were the case, Pan would likely appear just as strange to them as their daemons seemed to her.
“Hello!” A loud, robotic voice called out behind them. “Who might these little spies be?”
Will stood up in an instant and brandished his knife. Lyra, still crouching, looked up behind her and spotted a daemon that looked like an oversized beetle.
“Ahhhh…!” cried the large insect daemon. “I mean you no harm!” He hurriedly flew away to the children in the distance to warn them.
After a brief conversation with the humans, the insect flew further off, presumably in search of his human.
If only Will hadn’t needlessly pulled out his knife. He knew he shouldn’t have, too. They were clearly outnumbered, and while the children seemed to by about the same ages as Will and Lyra, it did them no good to threaten them or underestimate them. Will put the knife away, but kept his hand in his pocket should he need to use it.
A boy with dark hair and goggles atop his head hopped up onto his feet. He made a beeline to where Will and Lyra were hiding.
Lyra stood up sharply, on the defensive. Pan—in mouse form—sensed Lyra’s unease at the boy rushing toward them. He scurried out of Lyra’s blouse pocket onto the ground and became a wildcat, hissing in warning with his back arched high.
“Whoa!”
The boy with the goggles stopped in his tracks just a few feet away from Will and Lyra, nearly tripping over his own feet.
“What gives?” he scowled. Lyra met his eyes with an equally annoyed expression. The boy looked at Will and suddenly remembered that he was armed. He took a step back cautiously.
A girl in a large round helmet approached meanwhile, and the goggle-clad boy headed back toward her. Will and Lyra exchanged glances briefly.
“Sora!” The goggled boy said, exasperated. “I don’t get why they have to be so defensive, I just wanted to talk to them!”
“It’s fine, Taichi,” Sora said. It seemed to Lyra she was the most motherly of the bunch. “But you shouldn’t have run off like that!”
Another boy, blonde this time, walked up to the two children. He seemed rather tense.
“Hey. We should probably just leave them alone,” the blonde one said.
“Oh come on, Yamato. We could use all the help we can get out here. Maybe they know something.” Taichi sighed.
“Are you dense?” Yamato said hotly. “Tentomon told us the boy threatened him with a knife. It seems pretty clear they don’t want anything to do with us.”
Sora was growing visibly agitated. “Yamato, Taichi, stop it. We aren’t going to get anywhere arguing.” She paused for a few seconds, deep in thought. Finally, she said: “Let me talk to them.”
She turned to Lyra and Will nervously with her hands up. Taichi seemed concerned but said nothing, keeping his eye on the boy with the knife.
“Hello, my name is Sora. My friend didn’t mean you any harm, he just gets a little too excited at times.” Taichi frowned at Sora. She continued, “What are your names?”
“My name’s Lyra Silvertongue,” Lyra said. “His name’s Will. And this is Pantalaimon.” Lyra pointed at the ermine who had curled himself up around her neck while Yamato and Taichi had been arguing. “Sorry for looking so mean, we en’t going to do anything to you. We just got surprised, is all.”
“Wasn’t he a cat just before though?!” exclaimed Taichi. “What kind of Digimon is Pantalaimon anyway?”
“Pantalaimon is my daemon,” Lyra said. “Don’t you all know what daemons are? You got some of your own, I seen ‘em back there with the other kids.” Lyra pointed back to where the other children were, and to the creatures she believed were supposedly daemons.
“Oh, those are Digimon!” Sora said. “They’re our partners in this world.“

They're all like that. I guess it was a censorship call, as it would be pretty gruesome for a kid's show.
Damn, really? Man I’ve been missing out
And I doubt it was a censorship ship call, like I’m sure the team knew what they can and can’t show in a kids show and worked around that from the begining, but when Kakudou was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted when doing the novels... HE WENT ALL IN, and I RESPECT that lmao
Hey, thanks for your lovely comments about my fic! I loved your Grinch AU Sorato story! A really challenging prompt that you executed in such an awesome way.
Thanks!! I’m really happy that you liked it! :D Thank you for telling me!
Summary: Takes place during Tri’s reunion. As much as Gabumon’s happy to see Yamato again. Catching up to him is leaving him bittersweet.
A/N: So this is for @noctilucentstorm as part of the Digimon Secret Santa! Surprise! It was me all along! Mwahahaha!
Lol, so i was looking over the prompts you gave me. And I was going to make you two fics. The first one was of this really cute Taiorato College AU idea. Where Sora and Taichi have been friends in high school and went to seperate universites. While Sora became friends with Yamato during their first year at Uni. And for winter break Sora brings Yamato back to the city with her to meet Taichi cause she thinks they’ll get along.....and obviously they don’t. And their winter break is just ridiculous banter back and forth before they actually get along toward the end of the week lmao
But!! I’m so sorry due to my time constraints (and me being way too overzealous about this AU) I kept making it bigger and bigger until I realized there was no way I could possibly to do justice to it and make it on the deadline. So instead of two fics, I present you with one. This story was a cute little idea I thought of when I was looking at your icon and thinking about Yamato/Gabumon’s friendship.
I hope you still like it!!! When I manage to get this AU written out, you’ll be the first I message about it! Happy holidays! I hope your end of the year is wonderful for you!
There was no safer place than by Yamato’s side. Gabumon didn’t know the exact reason why that was true. He could wonder if it had something to do to their destined bond, or if he just simply enjoyed Yamato’s presence and loved the time he spent with him. Truthfully it didn’t matter. After not seeing Yamato for so long, he was finally with him again. That simple pleasure held more meaning than anything else.
“Woah…” Gabumon’s gasp ended with a soft giggle, “Your room is cleaner than the last time I was here.”
“Aha, very funny,” Yamato rolled his eyes as he put Gabumon down on his feet, “It’s not like I like leaving it messy, I just get busy and forget to tidy up.”
Gabumon shook his head pretending to be unconvinced, “You know Yamato, slacking off on cleaning is not a good habit to have.”
“Again, very funny,” Yamato said with a stale monotone voice. His curtness didn’t last long. Soon he was gently smiling at Gabumon’s light banter, “Do you need anything right now? Water or something?”
“No, no. I’m fine.”
“I see, well I’ll be right back so you can just relax for a little bit okay.”
“Okay.”
Yamato nodded as he left the room with the door ajar. Gabumon smiled back at Yamato’s gentle demeanor as he stood in his friend’s room.
Even if it had been a year since they’ve last seen each other, they were still able to go back to their normal routine as if no time had passed. Gabumon couldn’t help but feel a little relieved at that. He was the same, he’d always be the same. But Yamato was no longer the child he once was. He had grown, to a degree Gabumon didn’t even expect, even if it had been ‘just’ a year. It felt like Yamato was a different place than where he was….
Gabumon shook his head and puffed out a breath through his nose. There was no need to think about such down thoughts right off of the bat, he had just reunited with Yamato after all!
Glancing around the room Gabumon noticed some differences since the last time he stayed with Yamato in the human world. Other than the layout being neater, he noticed a few things changed from the books on Yamato’s desk to the placement of his bed. There were new posters up on the walls that Gabumon couldn’t recognize. And the colors of the room weren’t as dark anymore.
There was Yamato’s bass case propped up in the corner of his room. Followed by a small stereo system and some CD’s scattered around it. Gabumon trotted along the floor toward the small music space that Yamato created. Careful to not disrupt the pen and paper with notes scribbled along the margins, the small digimon shuffled through the CD’s with mild interest.
Music was an integral part of Yamato’s life. Even if Gabumon didn’t know too much about it, Yamato was always kind enough to explain it to him. Everything from the difference to guitar and bass to how harmonies and music bars were created. Gabumon took part in Yamato’s passion just from listening to him explain how music was.
As he was flipping in and out of the CD’s he did notice a few things wrong. If he remembered correctly, the Teen-Aged Wolves were a J-Rock/Pop band. They’re songs were mostly upbeat, catchy, meant to drive a crowd’s mood in a happier plane. Yamato specifically listened to bands that followed that motif, even if it wasn’t something that he liked right away. He did so to stay in line with what the band’s theme was.
But the stack of CD’s weren’t like that at all. Most of them had harsher cut images than the ones he remember seeing in the past. Their band names were rougher, steelier. And Gabumon couldn’t spot a single name that was remotely familiar with him. These were not the same kinds of CD’s that he knew Yamato liked to listen to for inspiration.
“Okay I’m back,” Yamato patted his hands on his shirt as he entered the room, “Sorry I just wanted to call my dad and update him with what’s going on.” He shrugged casually, “Not that he’ll mind anyway. But it’s better to keep him in the loop.”
“Oh,” Gabumon still had the CD’s in his hands as he was looking up, “That’s fine then. I haven’t seen your father in a long while too.”
“Yeah…well he won’t be home tonight…but when he comes back I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you.”
Gabumon smiled nodding as he put the CD’s back down in the exact fashion as he found them. He looked at the plastic covers with the dark art and strange twist of unfamiliarity. He heard Yamato shuffle behind him, unconcerned with Gabumon handling his music collection. Gabumon looked up slightly to see Yamato sitting at his desk quietly and the digimon shifted slightly, “Yamato, mind if I ask you something?”
“Hm? What is it?”
“Well it’s…” Gabumon picked up one of the CD’s to make his question clearer. The CD cover was entirely black, with the band name in red and their faces barely lit under dramatic lighting, “These aren’t the same bands that you were studying before right? What happened with the other music? Wouldn’t it be bad if the Teenage-Wolves didn’t have the same style of music?”
“Hm?” Yamato hummed slightly as he stared at the cover in Gabumon’s paw. He unintentionally scoffed, before gently edging that tension away, “Oh. The Teenage-Wolves aren’t a band anymore.”
“What?” Gabumon jumped, not bothering to put the CD away properly, “What happened? I thought you liked being a band!”
“Yeah well…we spilt up. We stopped agreeing with each other about what was best for the band and once that’s starts happening you can’t really stop it.” Yamato said monotonously, “It’s fine though, I’m part of a new band now. We’re called Knife of Day now.”
“Knife of Day?”
“Mhm.”
“…I see…” Gabumon looked down at the new music collection.
Yamato noticed the solemn look in his partner’s eyes. He leaned forward, “What’s wrong?”
“Hm? It’s nothing.” Gabumon forced a smile to try to seem like his normal self again.
“Gabumon.” Yamato insisted. Even if he didn’t say anything else. The sternness in his voice was apparent enough. Imploring Gabumon that this wasn’t the time to try to keep his thoughts to himself.
Gabumon blinked, looking away. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that. Out of everything in this world and his, Yamato and his bond where one of the few where they could be completely honest with each other. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to tell Yamato…he was just…a little embarrassed that’s all.
“It’s a little sad for me to be honest,” Gabumon interrupted, “That you grew up without me.”
Yamato flinched, looking downward, “Gabumon…”
“I mean, it was definitely going to happen! I mean you’ve been living your life here while I’ve been in the digital world after all!” Gabumon ended in soft laugh, “It’s just a little…what’s the word? Saddening? I thought I understood you and all of your interests…but I don’t.” Gabumon looked up directly at Yamato, “It’s not like I’m not happy to see you grown up…it’s just I don’t know. Lonesome? In a way. It makes me wish that I had been here through that change instead of being surprised by it…”
Yamato stayed silent, biting the inside of his lip as his digimon stated the truth. Gabumon mirrored that silence. The sun was setting, making the light of the room a tan orange. Even if the light was technically bright and warm enough. Yamato didn’t know what to say to conjecture his partner. He didn’t feel like he was much different, but the evidence proved otherwise.
When he thought back to the days when he was first in the digital world. He remembered being confused and scared about what to do next. Whether they were doing the right thing, and being immensely afraid of doing the wrong thing. Even if he swung back and forth all the time, Gabumon was always by his side supporting him no matter what. That was his safety net. Knowing no matter what happened, he would still have a friend who supported him.
He wasn’t sure how to give back the same kind of feeling back. Even if he could argue against what Gabumon said, his heart wouldn’t be in it. He couldn’t change the truth of what has happened this past year.
“…” Yamato looked away from his floor as he leaned back in his chair. He sighed out and aimlessly glanced around his room, “Hey.”
“What is it?” Gabumon asked, sitting down against the bed.
Yamato reached over toward the small shiny case propped against the corner of his desk. He rubbed the dust off of the box first, before opening it up and pulling out the small brass harmonica, “I still remember how to play this though.”
Gabumon’s eyes lit up instantly, “You still have that?”
“Of course,” Yamato ran his thumbs over some of the scratches and nicks that he got on the brandishing. He experimentally blew into it. Nodding as he noticed it was still in tune, “I wouldn’t be able to get rid of this. Not with all of the memories in it.”
“I haven’t heard you play your harmonica in so long though!” Gabumon perked up his ears.
Yamato kept his laugh to himself. He knew how much Gabumon loved listening to him play when he was young. But he did find it cute how Gabumon was like a puppy wagging his tail at seeing him with his instrument again, “You want me to play you a song?”
“Yes of course!”
Yamato leaned back, once again blowing into the harmonica to get a feel for how he should play the instrument. Gabumon got more comfortable, climbing up onto the bed even as he sat down with his paws in his lap. Yamato blew a high note, easing it into the melody that was ingrained into him since he was a child. And started playing the song that he couldn’t ever forget.
It was hard saying that ‘nothing was the same’. The idea that so much had changed without them realizing it was a hard truth to accept. A part of Yamato wanted to still believe that everything was like how he remembered.
Yamato opened his eyes slightly, seeing Gabumon sit straight with his paws in his lap. His eyes were fussed closed, and his ears twitched every so often. Yamato smiled against his harmonica.
Well. Some things were still the same. Gabumon was still a friend that’d be there with him no matter what.
I was interested in participating, but I noticed you only ask for our preferences, not what we're comfortable writing/drawing/etc. While I would love to create something for someone, I'm worried I'd get a request I couldn't complete (I haven't seen Xros Wars, I'm not comfortable writing smut, etc). Do you try to match potential gifters and giftees or is it randomly assigned?
We try our best to match people according to their interests. We do so after we have the complete list of applicants.
However if you have something in specific that you feel that you are unable to do/unable to accept. Feel free to specify that in the ‘other’ section of the application! There is no need to feel bad about having specifics.
