NOCTIS X OBASI BUT ITS AN ANIMATION MEME RAAH!!!

i've really been itching to make a quick animation meme these past few months... finally had the time and motivation to sit down and make one! this was a pretty quick animation meme, since i'm quite out of practice when it comes to making them, and i just wanted to have fun with this.

... also i really want to try to make more animation memes with them. god i forgot how much fun it was to just make these for the hell of it.

A MOMENT TOGETHER ( both characters are butch lesbians! )

“Let’s make this quick, I got a fight in an hour.” Noctis murmured, her cigarette tucked between her lips and lighter in hand. She flicked the charge a few times, sparks flew but no flame followed. “Shit.” Obasi leaned against the wall with a cigar of her own. She took a drag from it, briefly relishing in Noctis’s frustration. Then, she gestured to Noctis. “C’mere.” She brought the cigar to her lips, as did Noctis. Clutching the head of her golden cane, she lowered herself slightly. The ends of either poison touched, smoke billowed from between them. Obasi averted her gaze, Noctis kept hers locked on the taller gorilla animan. Obasi grunted and pulled away once Noctis’s cigarette was lit. “I’ll see you after the fight?” Obasi murmured, fiddling with her coat. Noctis took a puff of her cigarette. “You want to?” Obasi breathed out smoke and pursed her lips, “Yes.” Noctis smiled and nudged Obasi. “Then I’ll see you after the fight.” Before Obasi could respond, Noctis had turned to walk back inside the back door of Epsilon’s Ring. Obasi shoved her hands in her pockets and lowered her head. She hoped Noctis would keep her word.

i wanted this piece to portray the distance between them, a special kind of connection that doesn’t require direct sexual or romantic intimacy to be potent or impactful for either of them. they’ve got such a strange, special kind of dynamic that i can’t fully explain here, though if you do want to get a glimpse into their story you can read about it here

NOCTIS VALWULFE ART DUMP ( noctis is butch, she/her!! )

Noctis has endured a life of estrangement from not only her own family, but from her sense of self. She searched for herself in the blood she spills, hoping to find a reflection. Eventually an animan devoted to carnage… Perhaps even to love. Despite her violent nature, one that she was born with and further developed thanks to the influence of those she’s left behind, Noctis has found more in her life than just the battles she wages. Although, this love is unfamiliar to her and it would remain that way for many years.

Despite that she found companionship and formed what could be a family of her own, she’s far too comfortable in her life of belligerence to fully accept it. That is, until a new kind of death sweeps over the city and she comes to terms with what’s truly important to her. Though, she’ll never fully depart from her innate hostility.

been drawing noctis quite a bit recently because she deserves some love (and hate. she sickens me), she's just so fun to draw and write.

added a little blurb about her character as well because i like to enhance my work beyond just character art, there’s so much depth to noctis especially as the secondary protagonist of BITC... i eventually want to draw more lore-related art of her along with some prose. as much as i've enjoyed writing my book, every now and then i wanna step away and just write/draw some blurbs lol

here’s some noctis to kick off the new year with bitc stuff :] i’m at the point in my book where the narrative shifts to her subplot and she’s just taking over my my brain

i imagine this piece takes place after she’s won a fight. she hasn’t won unscathed, but a victory is a victory. she’ll put her life on the line again and again if it means she gets that rush of adrenaline she’s always chasing… for better or for worse.

Good morning! I think this is a question that answers itself but im still curious, you mentioned somewhere that BITC is a setting where much of the population is biomachines, so was this unfortunate fellow Noctis is holding up a sapient person or just some wicked looking robot she fought?

And speaking of Noctis, her prosthetic and the scars around it are so cool!! Whatever caused it must've been viciously bad to leave a whole network of scars branching across his torso.

Love how closely the musculature of the prosthetic matches that of his other arm too, the weightlifting drawings made me start wondering if both arms match each other in strength or if there's anything special about the prosthetic 🤔🤔

before i get into what the decapitated android is, i need to provide some context for the political situation in eaderix. reminder that eaderix is the name of the country that haderia city (where BITC takes place) is!

eaderix is controlled by a capitalist-monarchy known as the unified. haderia, however, although a small city in the south of the state of kairrus exists freely of the unified's grasp. i won't get into how that came to be, but all you need to know for now is that a century ago, a rebellion drove the unified from the south to the north, and they no longer occupy haderia. haderia is rumored to be a lawless city full of crime and disaster, when in reality, it's more habitable than most cities in the dying country of eaderix.

that being said, the unified uses reptilian-like military androids for military purposes. these androids are made from inorganic and synthetic-organic material. unfortunately, these androids are also used against innocent civilians. in haderia, it's rare to find one of these androids, but when they are captured, epsilon (the owner of "epsilon's ring", the ring that noctis fights at) and her lackeys tend to get their hands on them.

destroying a unified android is an act of rebellion against the unified. noctis is one of the few fighters at epsilon's that's able to take them on by herself, which makes for both a liberating and entertaining show.

lastly, regarding her prosthetics... thank you again! i plan on revealing more in the book/standalone prose, but noctis had lost her arm in a fight against an elephant animan named maddox. he used his tusk to rip her arm right from it's socket.

her prosthetic arm is undoubtedly her dominant arm, but she works her left arm harder to keep a balance of strength between them. she even has some iron embedded in the bones of her left arm to keep up with her prosthetic. you know those scars on her left arm? those are from the surgery she got to get the metal implants!

She tried not to think of what Obasi had told her just days ago when she had taken this fight: “This fight is a death sentence. You’re going to be outmatched.” Noctis practically saw her standing ahead of her, amethyst daggers making an uncomfortable place in her ribs.

BITTER MEDICINE / A BLADE IN THE CITY SHORT STORY

Days ago, Obasi advised Noctis to dodge this fight. They both knew this would be a dangerous decision... Or was it? Determined to prove Obasi wrong, Noctis takes the fight anyway, harboring dire results. After Noctis approaches Obasi for some consolation following her bloody victory, it becomes clear to them that this was about far more than just the fight. This "flashback" story provides a glimpse into the past of Obasi, Noctis, and their daughter Mitsue, and the kind of troubles that they face when clashing beliefs, livlihoods, and attitudes collide. There is no right or wrong, only the choice to be better, and what must be done to pursue that choice.

at long last, the first chapter of "BITC: BITTER MEDICINE" is here! there will be a total of four chapters in this short story, which i will be publishing as i complete them. all four chapters are mostly written, i just need to proofread and revise them. this first chapter is mostly expostion and a bit of a proper introduction to who noctis is a character.

i hope you guys enjoy this first chapter and stay tuned for more. this is only the beginning... let's just say things really start to pick up in chapter 2, where noctis faces obasi, and the real conflict begins.

in honor of almost being done with "BITC: bitter medicine" chapter 1, i drew this silly comic of noctis and obasi that's not supposed to be serious. but honestly considering how unserious noctis is, i wouldn't put it past her to say something stupid like she does in the last panel

random 12 am oc yap time

one of my favorite things about sunila as a character is that yes, she is hospitable, but simultaneously she’s very set in her ways and not that open minded. her personality is friendly, boisterous, and energetic, but once you get to know her you can tell she’s really stuck in this bubble that she refuses to get out of.

her friendly side shows juuuust enough to keep good company and be good company (or at least entertaining), but the moment she’s in a tough situation she’s like: “pssh, i’m doing this MY way and nobody is stopping me.” and it makes for some interesting interactions to write lol

her and obasi are sort of similar in this respect, that they’re both kinda in their own bubbles and need to learn how to be more open to others

tho i like to imagine obasi and sunila can set aside their ways and become friends. because goodness knows obasi definitely needs some friends. idk HOW sunila manages to keep her friends but hey, some animans really match her energy well (obasi is not one of them. noctis however…)
