Dear Vector Prime, What did Jawbreaker and Razor Claw get up to during the events of The Gathering?
Razor Claw was one of the last of the so called "mutants" to be activated, during Megatron's early experiments with the transwarp driver. While Icebird and his fellows had all escaped the terrifying theropod's clutches, Razor Claw remained a captive—in part due to Megatron's obsession with his former second in command.
In the end, Razor Claw was finally freed with the help of Jawbreaker. Another one of Megatron's experiments with the driver, this maximal protoform had been judged a failure when it failed to activate. Instead, Jawbreaker had gained one of the mysterious Transmetal 2 powers, this time over magnetism. Using this, he canceled out his spark signature, faking his death. Together the two odd companions fled Megatron's control, finding themselves caught up within the beast wars that were raging outside of the regular time stream when Jawbreaker interfered with their chronal phase technology. In the end, things turned out bittersweet.
Razor Claw was accepted into the Mutants’ commune, but Icebird's hatred of regular Cybertronians, and Razor Claw's own jealousy forced Jawbreaker away. He ended up being found by Noctorro, who mentored the Maximal until they returned to Cybertron and Jawbreaker witnessed his own mentor's death.
Now firmly believing there was no one left to accept him, Jawbreaker traveled deep into the new acid wastes of Cybertron, where he survived even after Megatron's return. He was last seen under a new assumed name, having been changed by Optimus Primal into a new technorganic form.
