Nod is confident and daring, but also deeply loyal and protective of you, even at your tiny scale.
He values cleverness and bravery, so he’s impressed when you navigate the forest, evade insects, or help plan strategies despite your small size.
His stubbornness softens around you — he’s more willing to listen and consider your ideas, seeing you as an equal partner in both adventure and life.
Nod loves having you by his side during tiny-scale adventures: jumping across dewdrops, swinging on blades of grass, or sneaking past forest predators.
He’s protective without being overbearing, often guiding you with a hand on your back or nudging you away from danger.
Playful sparring and training is part of your bond — he teases you about your size, but always with warmth and encouragement.
Nod gives you tiny, forest-scale gifts that are meaningful to both of you: a dewdrop carefully collected in a flower petal as a “gem"; a seed or acorn, polished until it gleams, as a miniature keepsake; a tiny feather from a bird or a colorful scale from a fish, chosen just because it reminded him of you; or a piece of a flower petal or leaf, folded or shaped into a heart, as a simple but personal token.
Nod is brave and strong, but with you, he feels safe letting down his guard. He talks quietly about his fears, hopes, and dreams while you rest on a leaf or moss bed together.
Quiet moments are treasured: watching raindrops fall like waterfalls, resting together in a flower cup, or just holding hands under a blade of grass.
Your encouragement strengthens him, helping him make difficult decisions and protecting the forest’s smallest inhabitants.
Nod enjoys playful banter and teasing with you, which adds lighthearted fun to tense situations.
He constantly checks on you, giving gentle nudges or tiny lifts if you get stuck or wobbly on uneven terrain.
His loyalty, bravery, and miniature gestures make your bond feel special, showing that love doesn’t need size to be meaningful.

𖹭 QUEEN OF THE POD by luvendiary [ONESHOT] [1.3K]
⇢ You’re hurt and exhausted, but the battle’s not over—until Nod shows up and helps you stop Mandrake. As the pod blooms, Tara appears one last time to say goodbye and pass the crown to you. You don’t feel ready, but with her blessing and Nod by your side, you finally believe you are.
Author’s note: I hate college. Lowkey some random character inserts. Lowkey black!reader coded? Grammar issues probably, B.S. this while working on my calc homework. Will correct it later.
Nod’s room is cleaner than you expected. The moon glow illuminated his wooden space from the window. He didn’t live underground like you thought, but they made their shelter within the caverns of the trees. You could smell his boyish nature on the sheets, laced with the conifer pine. It smelled nice. He smelled nice, you sheepishly thought, but you let silly observations pass. Perhaps it's an unfair judgment considering you met this person a few hours ago, but on a peculiar day like this, there is no reason or rhyme. Strange things have happened.
You were trying to remember what seemed like such a long time, but it actually happened this morning. You recently moved back in with your dad, and naturally, things haven’t been the same. The neighbor’s dog is no longer. There is a patch in the grass that won't flourish no matter the water, and your friends are planning their senior year. Without you. You huffed and shuffled on the bed, and it creaked beneath your weight. It was rather hard to sleep with the nightlife murmuring in conversation, cicadas, and owls. You wonder if Maya and Imani will remember you, but that is the least of your concerns. You’re no longer in Connecticut. You’re not even at Dad’s house.
It was Nod who found you disoriented in the woods. You don’t remember anything before that because you hit your head. Who are you? Where am I? What is going on? Questions that cannot be answered by Nod and you both, but the stranger offered his hand and said a guy by the name of Ronin might be able to help. You familiarized yourself with Ronin, some information about him being the general of an army of what he calls “leafmen,” and some from Nod ranting on the way about how “he’s always on my ass”.
“You had one mission, and you brought a girl home? What is the meaning of this!” Ronin scolded.
Nod shrugs his shoulders and rubs his arm nervously. "I got off track," he admits.
You interjected their argument, “Listen, I’m from this place called Connecticut, and I really need to get back home.”
Ronin’s brow creased. ‘What’s a Connecticut?’
“That's what I said!” Nod exclaimed.
Ronin shook his head, unsure what to say, “This seems like something that Queen Tara may know. I’ll bring your matter to her tomorrow.”
“Thank you….”
“Ronin,” he finished.
“Thank you, Ronin,” you repeated.
“I take it you don’t have a place to stay, you’re welcome to stay here as long as you need until you get back home to…Connecticut”
You shift awkwardly, moving on the wooden floor, and squeak out a quiet thank you.
“Nod, allow your guest to sleep in your room. No funny business,”
“What does that even mean!” Nod wailed.
You rub your temples at the memory.
“Strange people,” you mumbled to yourself.
“Rude,” Nod says, opening the door, throwing a woven blanket on you.
“I’m sorry,” you stammered. He had caught you off guard; you didn't even hear him walk in. “I didn’t mean it like that."
“No sweat,” he assured while chuckling, “Tourists are pretty strange too."
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, you seem different though.” he looked at you, bemused.
“You seem different, too.”
“Yeah?” he copied.
“Yeah, I mean, like the people here. You guys seem very down to earth. No pun intended. Not like the people of Connecticut."
“Yeah? Ronin has a stick up his ass, but he’s can be alright,” he grins and looks back at you.
“How’s your head doing?” Nod asked.
You turned your head to show him the small but deep gash on your head.
“Wow, that's nasty. You totally ate dirt,” he teased.
“Whatever,” you muttered.
“Let me do something about that." he chuckles softly
You didn’t say anything as he touched your face, but you felt the air getting thick and stilled.
“This is going to hurt,” he muttered, applying the ointment to the side of your face. You hissed at the sensation and inched away from his hands.
“I’m sorry,” he says quietly.
“No, no,” you said passively, “Just hurts, that’s all..”
He paused and looked down at you. His eyes were full of sincerity. It’s not that you don’t trust him. You don’t trust anyone. You looked up at him, and you saw his marbled brown eyes with flecks of fire. Wow, I’m going to say…..
“Is Ronin your dad?”
What? You wanted to break the tension, but those were the only words that could come up. You instantly regretted it because the boy's face turned deadpanned.
“No. No," he clenched his jaw, "More of a ‘father figure’ to my no longer father figure.”
“I’m sorry about that…” you replied, but he didn’t let you finish.
“No such thing. Night."
Nod hastily makes his way out of the room before you can say it back. You heard the door slam and blinked in confusion
I understand. You didn’t want to talk about it when it happened either.
Your eyes begin to slowly close in on themselves. Home seems to be so far away that you could only live with your thoughts and dreams. What about my summer classes at the community college? What was that lip gloss flavor that Imani was talking about again?
You woke to the sound of voices downstairs. You get up and make your way out the door and down the stairs. You trudge slowly, trying to make sense of the conversations.
“Nod, stay within your assignment. Don’t let last week happen again,” Ronin lectured.
“Yeah, yeah."
“I’m serious. Can you be serious? Think about your father.”
Nod brings his hands together to his face, and his annoyed expression contorts into a bubbling anger, “Don’t. Go. There.”
“Go where? You ought to grow a pair,” Ronin continued, but he stopped by the creak of your footstep. Ronin and Nod looked up and composed themselves quickly.
“Hey,” you muttered awkwardly.
“Hey, yourself,” Nod gawked embarrassingly, “How’s the hothead?”
“Better,” You rubbed your temples together. “Better.”
He nodded at you, and he continued to eat his breakfast. You sighed in relief. They don’t eat bugs. You had a bunch of theories in such a span of only a day, but their world is not as grim as you thought.
Ronin cleared his throat, “I have brought your request to the Queen. She says your departure can happen, but under a few conditions.”
“Conditions,” You repeated.
“Conditions. It will be under a full moon, a tradition in Moonhaven where we pick a pod as an heir."
“Ok? When is that?”
“A few days from now.”
“A few days? A few? I need to go home now, I have classes I have to take at the community college,” you wailed.
The two looked at each other. Ronin couldn’t be bothered enough to figure out what a community college is. The world of stompers is too freaky.
He hesitated but clarified, “It’s not something to be rushed. This pod is not just anything. It’s the life of the forest. Our home. It’s everything."
You look up and you feel a pang of guilt. Home.
“It may not matter to you, and that’s ok. But we are connected to it. Many leaves, one tree. That includes you,” Ronin acknowledged warmly.
“He’s a big metaphor guy,” Nod rolled his eyes.
Ronin sighed and rolled his eyes back, “Nod, why don’t you be a gentleman and take our guest to your training. Show them what Moonhaven is.”
Nod huffed, and he looked back at you, cueing “come on”.
Moonhaven? Don’t they mean New Haven? But you don’t bother asking. The world of the leafmen is too freaky.
You didn’t see Moonhaven – Nod described it on the way back, but to see it from a bird's eye view was something else…An entirely different world, hidden and encompassed by the canopy of leaves, swaying in the wind hypnotically. You were trance by it. You could see what Ronin was talking about, this life living in itself. Nod was also a leafman, but from what you observed, he didn’t seem as noble and earnest about it as Ronin did. You question his thoughts about it, carefully trying not to pry like yesterday.
“I just don’t fit in,” he shrugged he said putting on his gear, “Besides, I’m like better than everyone else here.”
“Is that so?” someone quips, bumping into him purposely, but then he fixes his gaze on you, “And who may this pretty be?”
“Watch it,” he hissed.
He looked at Nod, bemused, and looked at you, “Watch me kick his butt in sparring today.”
“We will see about that,” Nod grins back at him.
You watched them go at it, and you smiled to yourself as you found a place to sit. You observed Nod and his appearance. His soft brown eyes were framed by his angular but soft face. He has a nice smile, you thought. Imani and Maya would probably say he needs to get a haircut.
You were lulled by his shaggy brown hair swaying as he wiped the sweat off his brow. Nod doesn’t seem to be like a lot of the guys back home. He seems rather confident and laidback, not drenched in 'toxic hypermasculinity juice'. Even if he was getting his butt kicked.
“You’re totally cheating,” Nod cried out.
“You sound like a sore loser.”
“You saw him, right?” Nod called out, “He was totally cheating.”
You broke out of your trance. Ugh, focus.
“I wasn’t paying attention,” you said, and he groaned.
He shook hands with his sparrer and called it a day. His friend waved and winked at you.
“Yeah, yeah, goodbye,” he shooed him off.
“Geez, he was totally cheating,” Nod muttered, walking back to you, “Are you ready to go?”
You looked at him, observing him again -- dazed.
“Are you sure your head is ok?”
Yeah, yeah, I am…”
He raised his eyebrows but shrugged it off.
“Where you live, what's that like? I ought to ask what a community college class is,” he asked inquisitively.
You told Nod about everything back in Connecticut. You told him about your friends, Maya and Imani. He laughed when you told him that if he met Maya, she would tell him to cut his hair. You told him about your own hair and the pain of washdays. What you’re learning in community college, calculus – derivatives…..
“Sounds like a pain,” he laughed softly and hummed. As you guys are walking, you watch him shuffle in his pace.
“So this morning. Did you hear all of that?
Not if you didn’t want me to,” you said coyly.
“No, no, I mean,” he pauses and then explains, “Ronin is doing his best. It can just be a lot sometimes, y’know?”
“I get it with the world of responsibility."
“You do?” he quips and looks at you.
“Sure, I do after my mom was sick,” you replied. You guys found yourself sitting on a log watching it turn twilight, the moon creeping into the sky. “I was kind of holding everything together with my dad…”
Yeah, I know Ronin is trying, it’s just that…”
“Things will never be the same?"
“Yes. I’m not sure what to make of it,” he murmured, “But you can’t go back into the past, that’s all I know."
“Of course, but hopefully going back home is something I can change. I hope the Queen can make it happen,” you smiled hopefully. You think Imani and Maya would believe that you were with an advanced society of tiny people living in the woods?
Nod dropped his gaze at your words and felt a lump in his throat. He doesn’t know his feelings towards you yet, but there was just something. A dulling ache, to which he’s not a stranger. The feeling of the time before his father’s passing. He remembered it vividly, his father out the door saying he would be “out for a while” and it was a “different kind of mission”. Nod knew something didn’t feel right, and he wanted to voice it, scream it even, but the words snagged in his throat. Please don’t go. Please don’t go. It ranged in his head like an untuned lullaby. So when Ronin told him the news, Nod didn’t say a word. He didn’t even cry. He internalized his passivity and the lack of action, and acted outwardly to the world in a rebellious manner. For Ronin to make him a leafman when the position took his father was jarring. But not this time, he won’t contemplate. He won’t try to make sense of the lump in his stomach. No reason or rhyme. He faces you and swallows the thin air. I will say it this time, he thought. He slowly grabs your hand with his own, calloused, and you freeze.
“Nod?” you whispered, meeting his gaze, “What are you...”
He didn’t want to scare you, but unknowingly something else was scary itself. He continues with his words. “Please don't…” Nod says hoarsely, but he couldn’t finish. The earth seemed to turn itself into the sky, and harrowing screams filled the air. The fauna responded with a howl to the wind as the silhouettes of bats consumed the moonlight. And then he sees it.
HII ITS THE NOD LOVER🫶🫶 CAN YOU DO A NOD X READER WHERE THE READER IS CHOSEN AS QUEEN AFTER THE POD BLOOMS AND ITS JUST FLUFF BC NODS GF IS NOW QUEEN<3

Queen Of The Pod
Your muscles were aching and begging at you to give them a break. But you couldn't, not yet. You groaned as you tried to crawl back with whatever energy remained in your body.
Your leafman uniform was plagued with burn marks from Mandrake´s rot. Some of it had managed to singe your body, but it had been stopped from doing any major damage by your protective pieces.
You lifted your head up just to see Ronin struggling on the floor, being held down by Mandrake´s staff.
“Don´t touch him, you decaying shit!” you groaned out as you reached for your blade -or attempted to.
“Lie down princess”, Mandrake said, barely sparing a glance at your weak figure. “I'll be with you in a second”.
He then refocused his attention on the General and with an evil grin pushed the rot towards his face.
Ronin´s eyes went wide as he attempted to put as much distance as he could between him and the black gooey substance. You knew he wouldn't be able to hold for much longer. His face was covered in bruises, and he had been through hell and back just to be able to protect the pod.
At the very last moment, Mandrake rerouted his staff, and brought it down on Ronin´s chest, burning deeply into his chestplate. As the General winced, he took advantage of his weak position and pinned him down to the floor with his foot.
“What is that saying you leafmen have?” Mandrake mused as he nonchalantly threw his staff over his shoulder. “Lots of leaves…something, something. Very inspiring”. He then raised the staff over his head, and his smirk turned into a look of rage and anger. “But in the end, every leaf falls and dies alone…”
Ronin´s eyes went wide as the staff came down towards his face with sudden speed. However the blow never landed, and when he opened his eyes two blades were protecting his face from being completely consumed by the rot.
“No one is alone”, Nod said as he pushed the staff away from Ronin.
As if on cue, an army of leafmen dropped from the sky in perfect formation. You came to the sudden realization that moonlight was now filtering through the chamber, meaning that the pod would be able to bloom after all.
“Not even him”, you added as you pointed your blade menacingly towards Mandrake.
The arrival of your boyfriend had been timed perfectly. You had the urge to jump into his arms and make sure he was alright, but you limited yourself to a discreet smile.
‘I'm glad you´re okay’.
Mandrake seemed to come to the same conclusion as you had. The leafmen´s presence meant that they were not occupied with his soldiers; the darkness was not a threat anymore. Frantically he tried to break through the soldiers and get back to the pod, however you and Nod intertwined your blades once again, blocking his way to the center of the chamber.
Mandrake let out a growl of frustration as he pushed and fought harder, but the blooming pod seemed to give you newly renewed energy. You felt Tara with you. It was because of her that you were doing this, you would make her proud.
With your fuelled energy, you both thrusted your blades forward at the same time that the pod bursted with energy, throwing Mandrake backwards. You hurriedly ran towards the entryway ready to fight him in case he wasn't ready to give up yet, however his drowning screams caught your attention as he was swallowed into the trunk of a tree by his own rot.
You allowed yourself to sigh out in relief, exhaustion washing over your body once again. You saw Nod already helping Ronin up from the floor, and offering him his shoulder as support.
“You alright old man?” you asked as you sheath your sword.
“I´m fine. A little bruised is all”, he replied. “How's your leg doing? He burned you pretty badly”.
Nod approached you, after making sure Ronin was in fact okay, and made you place your arm around his shoulder as he held you securely by your waist.
The sudden weight of the situation dawned on you. It was over. He was gone, and so was she. You missed her. From the moment Tara died, you had not been able to process her death but rather had been focused on fixing the disaster it had caused. Now that you weren't on this quest anymore, her absence was palpable.
“I wish she could be here”, you blurted out. You felt Nod hold on tighter to your waist as he rubbed comforting circles with his thumb on it.
“She is,” Ronin said breathlessly, as his gaze landed upon the blooming pod. Now that the battle was over, the people of Moonhaven had come out of their hiding places and were staring in awe at the light emanating from the pod.
The light particles hovered over the flower before gently flying out. They traveled along the chamber, as if greeting everyone there. As if Tara was happy to see them safe. It slowed down as they reached your small group, stopping ever so slightly in front of Ronin and shimmering a little bit brighter, before making its way over to you and Nod. You expected the same greeting as Ronin had had. A final goodbye from your sister. However, the light did not leave your side, and instead it started to shine brighter and bigger.
Nod carefully removed his arm from around your waist, and gave you your space.
The light suddenly took the shape of Tara. You tried your best to remember your training and straightened up with your arms by your side. However, you couldn´t stop the few tears that had formed in your eyes from escaping.
“You did alright kid,” she said with the kindest of smiles. “You're in great hands”.
She glanced back at Ronin, prompting the General to smile.
“There's that smile…” Tara said as she returned her loving gaze back to you. “Take care of them for me”.
“I can´t. I´m not fit for being a queen”, you whispered as your voice broke slightly. “It should be you. You should be here…with me”.
Tara held on to your shaking hands, “I'll alway be with you”. With a final smile, she placed a tender kiss on your forehead. A bright light suddenly surrounded you and before you knew it, Tara was gone. Well, not really. That deep sadness you had been holding on to was gone. You could feel her. She lived within you. And you would make her proud, her legacy would live on through you.
A soft calling of your name broke you out of your trance. Your head snapped towards your awestruck boyfriend who was looking at you as if you were a star. You came to the sudden realization that the pain in your leg was gone, and as you glanced down to check on your wound you were surprised to see your runiform replaced with a stunning green and white dress. The queen's dress.
“You look stunning…” he breathed out. A smile crept onto his face as he approached you and wrapped his arms around you. You buried your head in the crook of his neck and let out a small laugh as he lifted you up from the ground and spun you.
“Nod!” you laughed out. “Put me down”.
“As you wish, your majesty”, he said as he set you down once again and playfully bowed.
The people cheered, in celebration of their new queen. To which you offered them graceful smiles.
“You know what this means…” Ronin said as he stood next to you, his helmet held firmly on his right arm.
“What?¨ you asked.
“Nod better shape up”.
You laughed at that, and glanced back at your boyfriend who was staring at you with a lovesick smile.
I feel like Childhood Friends to Lovers is very Nod.
You know he sees you as "one of the bros" first, not...kissable.
Thats on the surface at least, deep down though: and even barely pass the surface he's always known he's liked you.
He's very much been in love with you since he was young.
He's literally been through it all with you and you been through it all with him.
He knows no matter which direction either of you go; you'll always have his back.
So, it worried him: maybe he was wrong, yet it was too late, he was already waiting for you outside of work.
And when he seen you: he's never froze in front of you, and he was as stiff as a log.
Didn't help that Finn was behind you either.
*cough* your father *cough*
He just ends up quickly leaving, leaving you confused.
For sure screaming fuck in his head as he runs away.
His emotions kind of just blurted out at you.
after all you had been chasing him for three days and wasn't ready to give up on him just yet.
So, when you actually finally caught him by climbing through his room's window and managing to block all exits, he has nowhere to run.
He'll try and throw you off calling you "a creep" but that shit doesn't work; he's always climbing through your window calls it his "Special personal door to annoy you."
Basically, have to fight the answer out of him.
"You're avoiding me!"
"I am not! I'm. I'm just busy!" He argued, trying to get pass her.
"You are too!" Y/n snapped
"Am not!"
"Just tell me why!
"Why does it matter anyways!"
"Because it's hurting my feelings, Nod! What did I do!? Did I say something!? Do something!?"
He could only stare at you.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you-"
"no, No don't apologize-"
He had to cough it up now; he couldn't hurt you.
God it was so hard for him to get out; which was weird; Nod was usually pretty open to you.
Through every long pause and hard too seek out word he watched you listen with intent.
Finally, annoyed with himself he coughed it up, fully confident in his words.
"I'm in love with you," Nod told; "I've been in love with you."
It was a sigh of relief, his shoulders finally able to slack, and the air held in his chest released with his sigh.
"Nod-"
"Just, " He interrupted; causing Y/n to pause, "Just. Please- I can't help it, you do this thing! With your hair! and then it's with the eyes, and then it's- it's the way you just- It's you! you can't blame me!"
"Nod-" Y/n stopped him; hand coming to hold his bicep in a comforting notion, "Nod look at me,"
From his hand, Y/n's hand going from his bicep to his hand, "I have always loved you."
Worry slipped from the world, watching you hold his hand tightly, with a smile on your face.
He was quick to pick you up, and swing you around, you could only laugh happily as he gave you a long hard kiss on the cheek, holding your face firmly within his hands.
"You've gotta be mine," He said with excitement, she could only laugh, "Well- please be mine."
"I would love to,"
Now, as much as he knew, he wanted to just kiss you straight up on the lips he didn't.
But you did and he swears he's on cloud-nine.
He is on cloud nine actually- all day, every time he sees you.
And when you have to leave because you told your dad you'd be back before dark he's determined to take you home; but as much as we all love Finn; he's a bit more protective of you in the dating world.
Nod respects you wanting to please your dad, and he'll let you ease your dad into the idea of you dating.
"I'll see you tomorrow,"
"I don't train tomorrow,"
"Me neither, I wanna take you somewhere, I know you'll like it,"
Nod certainly never changed; he loved you, partners or not,
You agreed and he said he'd get you as soon as he could in the morning.
You rushed home quickly, you're late for dinner.
It was your father who was standing waiting for you at the door.
"Dad-"
"Don't."
Y/n was silent, "I told you to be back before dark, and it's been dark."
"I'm sorry, I rushed home as quick as I could," she apologized.
Finn could only sigh, "Where were you,"
"With Nod..."
"Well stop it,"
"What!?" Y/n asked as Finn started to walk away, "Wait that's not fair!"
She chased him into the kitchen; "Stop chasing after a boy that you can do better than." Finn ordered.
"That's not what's happening-"
"No? So, he just runs from you!? Once best friends reduced to avoidance?" Finn defended, "Bees don't explain to flies why honey is better than shit,"
"That's unfair! -"
"Enough!" Finn ordered, stopping her from speaking any further; "Clean up for dinner. Your grandmother and aunts are here,"
You only ran; Finn couldn't help but look back and hear the running of the steps up the stairs and then the slamming door above.
From then on, your relationship with your father becomes strained.
Nod realizes somethings wrong when he comes in through your window and you're lying on top your bed.
"Hey,"
"Hi."
Just the way you respond, you sound upset.
He knows you'll talk about it when you want; and carefully climbs over you to lay besides you, wiping what he thought were fresh tears away from your cheek but to realize they've been dried to your face.
He has to cheer you up; he's trying to pull you out of bed despite your protest; he sits you up and looking through your clothes to find you something comfortable.
"Come on, let's get out of here,"
"Nod, I don't want to,"
He kneeled between your legs, his hand in yours; looking up at you and asking what's wrong as he kisses your hand.
You leave it at a bad argument with your father, and he listens to ask much as you'll give him.
Luckily, he gets you out the room; hummingbird waiting.
And just like that he took off with you in front of him, his arms around you and guiding the bird along.
"Just what you'll need I promise."
he took you as high as he could into the trees, the highest tree he knew about, and landed his bird.
"Come on this way-"
Holding his hand he led you through a hole: once a home to a bird, and threw to the other side.
"And its suppose to rain today," Nod commented, "your favorite."
The branch was balding at the end, yet had leaves up top for some protection, leaving a nice view.
And he even set a little picnic out for the both of you.
Second kiss? Scored.
He's litterally planned out the whole thing.
He'll play little card games he brought up, eat with you, kiss you + a little making out
But thing that really reels you in, makes you fall so deep in love is the dancing.
He'll dance with you up on that tree branch, spin you, and dip you. Twirl you for as long as you want.
Sure, you lose track of time, but you could care less as you sit with him snuggled up.
Eventually, he'll take you home, dropping you off at your window.
He'll wanna say goodbye with a kiss, which turns into two, two to three.
He just rather not leave. And lay with you some more.
But you rather not have Finn take his head off.
Finally he truly says goodbye and leaves, you making your way back inside.
Sneaking around your father is routine now. The "Im going to bed early" and "Oh well they asked me in early" works for a while.
And in those hours, you're with Nod: dancing and kissing the hours away
He likes to train with you when you guys can
Strong = Hot in his mind
And damn are you strong
Sure at some point it goes from actually training to rolling around and laughing with one another
Always split before Finn shows up
Would really like to be public about the relationship you know go like: "Oh, this is the love of my life. Let me tell you all about her-"
But tbh he's even nervous; he sees how Finn glares at him
Tbh you hurt my child I hurt you is very Finn, especially when its someone so close
For your month anniversary, Nod surpised you with a handmade card and lunch left on your desk.
Finn had walked you in that day...ouch.
"Who's it from?" Finn questioned.
"Ooh. Didn't leave a name.." Y/n laughed nervously, "Admirers, cookoo am I right? haha..."
Admirer? Admirer his ass
Hes gonna track that bitch so hard.
Oh nods fucked.
Luckily you and Nod sneak around it: quite a bit at that too.
Finn's first suspicion is when you come back from felid work; a run in with boggins to collect medicinal herbs for your healer mentor.
Nod was pushing past crowded medics and helping soliders to get to you before Finn could.
Just the way he looked at you, and you looked at him, the way Nod checked over you, and was quick to take over as your crutch.
He was surpised when he over heard Nod instructing younger healers what to do with you, Finn couldn't help but get it more and more
"Where's my dad!"
"It's okay. It's okay, he's coming. he's coming - just take a deep breath -"
A needle going through flesh with no numbing of any kind after adrenaline wore off was....wow.
"I can't! I can't no! No no! Nod! Please!-"
"Hey! Look at me! Look at me!" Nod called, his upper body hunched over and across Y/n's, blocking what was happening below and holding her down, "I've got you! Alright? Look at me. I wouldn't let anything bad happen to you, okay?"
They were able to seal the wound
Unlike Nod they wouldn't let Finn in, and only when Y/n was brought out to make room for the next soilder was he allowed to see her.
"Dad!-"
"Baby girl!" He was quick to hug her, holding her head to his chest and holding her tight, "I was so worried."
Finn pulled away, stroking her hair down and looking over her face: "you're, okay? What happened!? Are you okay?"
You didn't even bother to answer before hugging him tightly, he hugging back.
He only took you home quickly; glancing back at Nod fairly quickly before returning to you
and your father babied you, even though mostly all you wanted from him was his lap to lay your head on.
Which he was glad to provide, fingers brushing through your baby hairs.
Family comes to visit you.
And with them is Ronin after all he's your fathers best friend, and because Nod lives with him he came too
"I was so worried." Finn told Ronin.
"I know." He answered.
The two stood in the kitchen, "I don't want her going on the field again."
Ronin was silent as a cup of tea was handed to him.
"You'll hurt her." Ronin answered, "Not allowing her back on the feild."
"Hurt her or the Leafman army?" Finn snapped, "She almost lost her life, Ronin!"
"Finn-"
"Her life, Ronin! This is my daughter!"
Y/n stayed curled up in the blanket, hearing the argueing from the other room.
"You okay?" Nod asked, he sat on the floor beside the couch, chin resting on the cushion.
"Yeah..." y/n answered.
"You'll look pretty badass with that scar." Nod commented, causing her to smile softly, but it soon faded.
"I guess we're not dancing for a while now..."
"We can do other things." Nod told.
"Like what?"
Nod chuckled, "Like what? Well... we can still talk to each other. We can still joke and tickle each other... we can kiss each other still..."
Y/n was silent.
"I know you liked the dancing a lot." Nod commented, "I did too. We'll do it again. Dont worry."
"You know... my dad used to dance with me." Y/n commented.
"Who's a better partner? Me or him?" Nod asked, causing her to laugh.
"Im not answering that." Y/n commented.
"Oh, it must be me then." Nod spoke.
Y/n chuckled softly, Nod rubbing a thumb over her cheek; "i know I couldn't ever have a better dance partner.
"I love you." Y/n told him, he smiling softly.
"I love you too."
She leaned over, kissing him softly, and he kissed her back. He raised from his bottom to his knees, allowing her to lay back as they kissed. He only pulled away for a moment to repeat the three words; I love you, before returning to kissing her softly.
Nod usually liked it when hands ran through his hair, especially hers. But the hand that raked through his hair quickly pulled him off Y/n.
"What the hell is your problem!"
"Finn!-" Ronin tried to argued.
"Dad stop!-"
"You think you can just play with my daughters feelings and then take advantage of her!" Finn snapped.
Nod was stuck on the floor on his side.
"Get out of my house!"
"Sir-"
"I said get out of my house!"
"Dad!" Y/n argued getting up, catching the couch corner to keep her up.
"Nod get up." Ronin ordered pulling him to his feet, "Come on-"
"Daddy please! Just stop!" Y/n pleaded hand on his arm, "Please he's not hurting me!"
"Y/n-"
"I said get out!" Finn shouted: "I'll fucking kill you if you touch her again!"
"Daddy Please!" Y/n begged.
Ronin pulled Nod out the living room and house. Finn and Y/n arguing in the background.
"Whats your problem!" Y/n shouted.
"Problem?! My problem!?" Finn argued, "He's kissing on you after he's played with your feelings!"
"He loves me!"
"He doesn't love you!" Finn argued, "Playing with your feelings and then hes all the sudden ontop of you?!"
"How do you know!-"
"I'm your father! I know better and you listen to me! Do you understand that!" Finn shouted back.
"And what!? End up sad and alone like you?! Chasing after a man that'll never love me!" Y/n argued, tears streaming down her face, "You are not Me, and Nod is not Ronin!"
It grew quiet between the two, and Y/n, despite her injury, was quick to move, leaving the living room and up into her room.
Finn well...he was in complete shock.
Mouth ran dry and all
It took him a moment to even get his brain working again.
He leaved you alone for the night. Its the best choice.
And despite it all.
Nod still comes to see you.
Knocked on your windowseal and everything and kinda lets himself in.
"Look Im sure your the last person you wanna see right now-"
But your hugging him quicker than you should be able to with your knee.
"I don't wanna be here, Nod..."
"I know. It'll get better." Nod told her, kissing her head and rubbing her back, "But with your leg, you're safe here. Just for now, okay?"
Y/n nodded, Nod smiled, "That's a brave girl." He wipped her tears away.
"Im sorry for the way he treated you."
"He's scared to lose you, is all."
"Still-"
"Hey really its okay." Nod reassured her, "and hey, look at the bright side. We don't have to hide anything. And when those injuries are healed, we can go screw around again. On the tree tops. Just us."
Y/n hugged him tighter, "Thank you Nod."
"Anytime."
He stays with you for a while longer
Relaxing with you laying on your bed. He just wanted to make sure you were sleeping.
And when you did fall asleep, he personally pulled the covers over you and kissed your temple.
Little did you know Nod had gotten up early the next moring and knocked on your door.
Your dad answered: exhausted, and dry of tears.
Caffine couldnt save him today.
"I told you not to come back-"
"Just. Hear me out -"
"No -" Finn argued, closing the door.
"Just!" Nod stopped him with a foot between the door and the frame, "Look I really. Really love your daughter. Like. Really... love her."
Finn stopped: "okay and?"
"She's everything to me. Like she's everything to you - so I thought we should get along."
"You played with her. You just dont seem to get that -"
"I never meant to hurt her she knows that -"
"You did, though- why is it so hard for you to understand-ignoring her then touching her - please class a act -"
"I didn't understand! She went from being my best friend to being in love with her! I didn't get it!"
"And if you don't love her? You have an empty hole, You're filling with her - get it straight Nod- Your using her!-"
"I want to marry her!" Nod snapped.
Finn was in a silent shock, "How... how long?"
"A long time now..." Nod commented: "Just please! I want-"

Nod x Reader
—
“Nod, quit it!” You shouted as you jumped onto your tippy-toes, swinging your hand up at the knapsack he held above your head.
“Aw, come on, Y/n,” he grinned, raising his arm higher. “You can jump higher than that!”
You groaned loudly and tried to pull his arm down lower. “I need that to take notes or Ronin’s going to kill me,” you said while jumping again, trying to shove him over.
“What? Nah,” Nod scoffed and snorted, waving you off. “He wouldn’t get mad at you, you’re too cute.” With that he winked and switched the bag to his other hand.
Your eyes widened and your face flushed pink, your brain buffering over what he just said, giving him time to push you out of the way.
“Wha-wait, NOD!”
He laughed and waved the bag over his hand looking back at you, “Catch me if you can!”
You groaned and chased after him.
“No fair!” You shouted.
“Oh come on, girl, it’s too easy!” Nod cackled, jumping out of the way as you dove.
“Just give it back!” You swiped for it again.
“Oop-” he dodged and raised your bag over your head again. “Awwwww, whats the matter?” He grinned, “Can’t reach?”
“Nod, I swear!” You huffed. “I will climb you!”
“I’d like to see you try,” he smirked.
“You asked for it!”
“Huh-wait-ACK!”
You gave yourself a running start before tackling Nod to the ground, toppling the both of you over.
“Give it back!”
“Never!”
The two of you rolled on the ground as you scrambled for the bag in his hand. Nod kept it just out of reach, but he didn’t expect you to wriggle your way out of every way he tried to keep you back. At one point, his arm was wrapped around your waist while he tried to pull you away from grabbing your bag back.
Finally, you shoved his head away and leapt for the bag, snatching it from him.
“Aha!” You sat up immediately. “Gotchya!”
Nod huffed and propped himself up on his elbows. His eyes flicked across your face, a smile forming on his own. He couldn’t help it, not when you were positively beaming.
He raised a brow and smirked, resting his chin on his fist. “You know, if you wanted me to hold you, you could’ve just asked.”
Your face fell again, eyes widening. What was he—
Oh. Oh.
Your cheeks started to burn furiously as you realized the compromising position you had just been in. And you had just given him the perfect opportunity to tease you relentlessly.
“Yoink!”
One second, you had your bag in your hands, the next, Nod is running off with in his grubby hands.
Blush forgotten, you smack the floor and yell after him, “NOD!!”
Once again, you were chasing after him, jumping and swiping at the bag he held over your head as he laughed at your misfortune. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

@kbokhara sorry this took so long! Ive been in a lull of inspiration as of late
Warnings: not too detailed in nsfw area, I mean it's there and well implied,
Note: GIRLY POPS, DID WE KNOW NOD WAS VOICED BY OUR BELOVED JOSH HUTCHERSON !??! BECAUSE I SURE DID THE FUCK NOT,
Ex. Note: also I almost didn't write this bc when I first watched Epic I was really young and I knew Nod was around my now current age; 18-19 and I was like "hes alot older than me" but then remembered that me and Nod are actually around the same age rn then I remembered alot of characters I crushed on as a kid are like...my age now and now its putting me in a crisis
This man is vanilia with a dash of spice. He enjoys comforting sex
Straight up: sets you down for dinner he attempted to make and burnt a little and candle light and everything.
One-night stands? Nah, he tried once, bro was like "I gotta go" not even a minute into it.
Though he's very vanilla, he enjoys messing around in other places *cough* unground ponds and pools.
He doesn't know why there's something so beautifully and calm about it.
He also really likes the way any light from above comes down to hit your skin.
Moonlight over sunlight 100%
His first time is definitely with you,
Also, you on top of him?
Mind blown,
Turns out he enjoys light neck grabbing; like start with your hands on his chest as you're riding him: they going up to his shoulder and onto his neck, just for you to lay down ontop of him while riding him and run your hands to the back of his head and into his hair.
He's respectable enough to not sneak into your parents' house,
Brings your mom flowers always, especially before he takes you out on a date.
Just to go and bang you in his room after the date.
Let's take a moment to thank ronin for working so much.
Thank you, Ronin.
Well except for that one time.
You know. That one time that he caught you both
It was early on in the relationship, a quickie finished as you had told Nod. Adamantly, you had to go to this family dinner.
And he was all for it, but you both wanted to bang so. Thats what you did
Ronin caught you walking the walk of shame out of Nod's room. Nod trying to convince you to stay or at least let him walk you home as he was still halfway undressed.
"Baby let me just walk you home-"
"Nod please. It's okay. I appreciate it but I know you're supposed to go do things today too-"
"Oh? With Ronin?" He chuckled, "He can wait- I'll make anyone wait for you-"
"Well Ronin doesn't want to wait." Ronin cut in.
"Ronin?!" Nod spoke, nerves laced his voice as he was quick to push Y/n behind him, "hey! Ronin, how's your day!"
Nod finished putting on his shirt, "Hey- Didn't know you were-"
"Good afternoon, Y/n."
Y/n looked out behind Nod, the embarrassed expression told it all to Ronin "...good afternoon commander, sir..."
"Nod walk her home. We'll have a talk about it after."
Nod only agreed with silence and along they went.
For sure got in trouble after by Ronin,
Birds and the bees talk, from Ronin? Nod rather die.
but of course Ronin's gotta be a hard ass and ground him for a week; Nod could care less
"You can't see her for a week,"
"What!?" Nod argued, following Ronin's walking away form, "T-That's not fair!"
"Wanna make it two?"
"You know I wanted to make her a gift anyways-"
