Connor was rescued from a dog meat truck heading for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival on May 5, 2017. Brave Chinese activists and No Dogs Left Behind rescued 660 dogs on that day, freeing them from their tiny, packed, rusted chicken crates and treating every dog.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Connor was very afraid of humans. His experience with humans involved torture and abuse. No Dogs Left Behind not only treated his battered body, we also healed his soul, transporting him to our Sanctuary where he is safe and continues to receive proper care and endless love.⠀⠀ ⠀ Connor has a best friend, Scrappy. During our 6/19/18 rescue of dogs headed for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival, there were dogs literally giving birth as we rescued them. We do our best to save the mothers and newborn puppies but the conditions in which they have been kept means that not all of them make it. Here, No Dogs Left Behind Founder Jeffrey Beri holds a dying newborn puppy, showing each little one love in their final moments.
