her teeth pierces the skin on his lower lip and ace shoves at her, not to stop the kiss, just to put her against the wall. there's nothing kind or gentle when they touch each other, he's pretty sure it would make her laugh if he even fucking tried and he knows that if she suddenly got all soft on him he'd know this was the end of whatever the fuck they were.

when her back is to the wall, ace does pull away, just slightly, to rub his lower lip and see if it was actually bleeding. it was. the slash of red on the pad of his thumb just makes him fucking smile.

"god, you're so hot." he kisses her again, his body flush against her's, thankful not for the first time that she's so tall, and his kiss so hard it only opens the wound more.

he finds himself drawn into more and more danger, it's the only thing that makes him still feel like a person. though, he supposes, he isn't a person anymore, at least not in the strict sense. and he's too drunk to really think that much on the nature of humanity and if he still has it.

and wasn't it a nice surprise to learn he could still get himself wasted? helps to pick someone for dinner that was already drunk themselves.

slumping beside cathryn, blood on his lip but quickly licked up and gone. the guy he'd left in the bathroom was happy, just taking a moment to get stable on his feet. tim looks at her and there's almost a smile on his face. "someone came into the bathroom while i was eating."

that should have meant he stopped, should have meant he cleaned up his mess and left the whole building. he hadn't.

he grunts out his agreement as he tosses himself haphazardly down on the couch beside her, but not touching her. it wasn't like they spent a lot of time reminiscing about their past. sometimes ace is pretty sure he's making up the fucking memories of them together. her hands in his hair, his around her waist. the way it used to feel so, so easy to breath when they were together because he never had to pretend to be a better man. she never asked him to, and he would never ask her to soften her edges.

but they'd ended up cutting each other on those very same edges. time and time again.

"yeah," he replies with sigh and his hand running through his freshly bleached hair. "like one of those, uh, the fuck are they, see them on tiktok some. those books."
