June 11th 2017 ~ 4 Years with GEM!

Today is GEM’s official anniversary! 4 years ago today the starting line-up of members was announced! As well, today marks one year since Maaya's last concert before her hiatus. A year has come and gone and so much has happened! In that time we met Monami and Hirari and enjoyed two new singles: Spotlight and Baby, Love Me! So excited to see what happens this year! <3 

As we enter GEM’s fifth year, I’d like to thank you all again for your continued support of GEM and of this blog! Stay tuned for updates from the girls’ 4th anniversary concert tomorrow, June 12th, at Shinjuku Blaze. I’m expecting the MV for the new single “Kimi to Boku” to be released soon, so please look forward to that!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Noguchi Monami has left GEM permanently

Thank you for supporting GEM even in this quiet time between official activities. 

At this time, member Noguchi Monami has made the decision to leave GEM. 

Although we held discussions with her and her parents many times, we respect their intentions to give priority to academics, and since this is the conclusion they have reached, we can now officially announce it. 

We are very sorry for the inconvenience to all of the fans who have been showing support, and to everyone with a vested interest. We sincerely apologize for making such a sudden announcement. 

Below is a comment from Noguchi Monami:

When I entered GEM I thought “Even though I want to challenge myself greatly and work hard in GEM’s entertainment activities, I’m also concerned about my academics.” I wanted to achieve success in both.

However, this has become unrealistically difficult and I can’t continue to balance activities. My parents and I reached this conclusion together. 

I’m very sorry to share this news with all of the people who have been supporting me.

Update on Noguchi Monami’s Condition

It’s difficult for me to translate this clip because Higuchi-P (iDOL Street’s Producer) is talking quite fast, but I was able to catch enough after watching it a few times to give a sold update.

Her parents want her to go to cram school, but commuting to Tokyo from her home in Kyoto while having to do these extra studies is really too difficult for her to do right now. Since she’s also developed a bit of an intellectual character due to her English speaking skill, it seems as though management is okay with her devoting more time to studies and taking a hiatus for now. She did discuss this with the other members. Seems as though the break is no longer related to any medical issues and is instead tied solely to academics. That’s a relief!

I knew that Yuu had stageplay upcoming, but what happened to Monami? She often absent in previous show.

Hi anon! Unfortunately this has been the main question of the past month. Management announced on July 17th that Monami would be suspending activities due to illness. Since then, we haven’t heard anything about her condition or her anticipated return. Please refer to these earlier asks Re: Monami’s absence for some more details (but not really many more detail! Information has been so limited!)
