I started my first college class today at midnight on Wednesday, Sept 3rd. Shit. My first assignment in one of my classes is to make a post about myself. We write one word and tell a story about why we think that word describes us and our life. We then have to look at the other students post and see what we like about theirs and add two more adjectives to that describes them and myself. The only word I could think of that wouldn't be embarrassing or self deprecating was young. I'm the reason is so much a story as a fact of my life. I'm the youngest of four in my immediate family and the youngest of twenty cousins on my father's side of the family. I also have been the youngest person in my grade or class since kindergarten. Thanks mom for making me start early. However I'm not sure this aptly describes me as a person. I think it does let you know or rather explain a few things about me. Like my need for attention ,(I've gotten much better, when I was younger I would hang jump or do anything to get someone to pay attention to me) or my me wanting new things because I would get hand me downs from my sisters and cousins, (but maybe this one is just an innate quality in people, everyone wants something new and shiny). Also sometimes young implies stupidity or naivety which I don't believe either describes me. However it also implies inexperience and impulsivity, which I unfortunately am. I have never had sex, but I have already made plenty of mistakes because I hate to think before doing, I think it takes all the fun out of the act. But still I just wonder how do you summarize your entire life or your entire self in one word? And if you can I wonder if young really Is the best word to describe me?
