Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari's messengers, resulting in many fox statues across the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari Shrine has ancient origins, predating the capital's move to Kyoto in 794. While we saw no foxes when we came back at night after our visit to uji, we experienced something we’d been craving for all day NO CROWD! thanks @ellomis.sc for remembering this was a stop along the way back to kyoto! #fushimainari #fushimainarishrine #torii #withtheplusone #kyoto #japan #ledlenser #ledlenser_official (at Fushimi Inari Taisha 伏見稲荷大社) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4W1qDsnDB2/?igshid=re72oqz3q1v3
