Aoba could barely keep from smiling, which was the first sign that something was up. Sure,smiling wasn’t a new thing for him, but it was rare for him to smile at someone, and not with them. Which led Noiz to believe that he had walked into some kind of trap.Eyebrows drawn inward, he asked, “And what’s wrong with you?”

Aoba brimmed with confidence. “I’ve got you.”Noiz stared at him. “Obviously.”"No, no," Aoba shook his head and his eyes glittered. He nearly laughed. "I’ve got you cornered. Blackmail on you was surprisingly easy to find."A moment passed where Noiz thought of all possible things the other man could be referring to, and realized that nothing that crossed his mind seemed particularly threatening. So, without much emotion, he played along by raising an eyebrow.Pleased with himself, Aoba stepped to the side, revealing a holo-monitor that displayed a series of crude drawings.Noiz snorted. “Oh, my old rage comics. I thought I’d deleted those.”

Aoba beamed. “But you didn’t.”Noiz paused and marveled at the fact that Aoba appeared so completely contented at the discovery. Frowning, he admitted, “Hey, I worked hard on those.”Aoba laughed out loud, and a thought itched at Noiz’s mind. “What did you need blackmail for anyway?”It took a moment for Aoba to think about it, but when he answered, he was still smiling. “For once, I’d like to be one step ahead of you, you know.”Noiz snorted, thinking for the umpteenth time that Aoba’s naivete was amusing, and his innocence all too alluring."Not gonna happen," he said aloud, and decided to leave it at that.
