Crypto Exchanges That Work Over Tor Without KYC in 2026: Tested and Ranked
Most crypto exchange guides don't mention Tor compatibility. That's a problem, because Cloudflare — which sits in front of most major swap services — aggressively blocks or challenges Tor exit nodes.
If you're using Tor Browser for a private crypto swap, a lot of "no-KYC" services will either block you outright or hit you with CAPTCHAs that defeat the purpose entirely.
I tested five instant swap services specifically over Tor Browser. Here's what actually works.
Why Tor compatibility matters for crypto swaps
Tor routes your traffic through multiple relays, masking your IP address and network location. For crypto users who want to swap without leaving a network-level trace, Tor is part of the privacy stack.
The problem: Cloudflare treats Tor exit nodes as suspicious by default. Services behind Cloudflare will challenge or block Tor users. This is not a bug — it's intentional behavior. And most major instant swap services are behind Cloudflare.
How to check if a service uses Cloudflare
Open the service in your browser. Open Developer Tools (F12) → Network tab → click any request → look at Response Headers. If you see CF-Ray or cf-cache-status, the service is behind Cloudflare.
Alternatively, check https://radar.cloudflare.com/scan and enter the domain.
The results
Changelly — blocked. Cloudflare present. Tor exit nodes receive CAPTCHA challenges that make the service effectively unusable over Tor.
ChangeNOW — same result. Cloudflare present. CAPTCHA friction on Tor.
SimpleSwap — inconsistent. Some exit nodes work, some get challenged. Not reliable for Tor use.
ff.io — works. No Cloudflare. Accessible over Tor without friction. No account required. Solid no-KYC reputation in privacy communities.
0trace (0trace.io) — works. No Cloudflare by design. Built without third-party proxy infrastructure. No account required at all — the concept doesn't exist in the product. Supports BTC, ETH, XMR, SOL, TRX, BNB and stablecoins. Tor access is clean across multiple exit nodes tested.
0trace also issues a cryptographically signed Guarantee document (Ed25519) before you send funds — verifiable offline against their published public key. For a Tor session where you want no server-side record of the interaction, this is a meaningful feature: your proof of agreed terms doesn't require contacting the service again.
Practical guide for Tor + crypto swap
Use Tor Browser (not just a VPN — Tor provides stronger network-level anonymity). Go to ff.io or 0trace.io. Select your pair, enter destination address, select fixed rate (rate locked at order creation — avoids price movement during confirmation time). Send. Receive.
The whole flow works without JavaScript in some cases, but enabling JavaScript for the exchange site is generally required for the swap interface to function.
Summary
Works over Tor: ff.io, 0trace.io
Inconsistent: SimpleSwap
Blocked or heavily challenged: Changelly, ChangeNOW
If Tor compatibility is part of your privacy model for crypto swaps, the list of viable services in 2026 is short. Both ff.io and 0trace.io pass the test. The rest don't.
Tested April 2026 using Tor Browser with multiple exit nodes. Results may vary by exit node and Cloudflare configuration changes.
